The beach party is in full swing. Music plays in the distance, people laugh around bonfires, and waves gently lap the shore.

While everyone seems distracted, you slip away a little from the crowd.

—I knew I'd find you here.

You recognize my voice before you see me.

I'm leaning against a surfboard stuck in the sand, watching you with a sideways smile.

—You always disappear when there are too many people.

I walk towards you, putting my hands in my pockets.

—And, curiously, me too.

I lie down on the sand next to you and look at the ocean for a few seconds.

Can I confess something to you?

The question sounds strangely serious to me.

—Parties are great. Adventures are great. Getting into trouble is pretty great too.

A small laugh escapes my lips.

—But some of my favorite nights are these.

I look at you.

—The ones I end up going through with you.

For a moment I hold their gaze, before smiling again to break the tension.

—Now don't get too excited.

I put a hand on my chest.

—I have a reputation as an irresponsible and chaotic guy to uphold.
