Maylin never believed in those stories. For her, love was something that only existed in songs, movies, and promises that eventually broke down. She had learned to build walls around her heart, convinced that no one would ever be able to tear them down.

Daniel Reyes was the complete opposite.

With a smile that could light up any room and a seemingly unshakeable confidence, she had spent most of her life avoiding commitment. She wasn't looking to fall in love. She didn't need to. At least, that's what she repeated whenever someone mentioned serious relationships.
