Ghost - Scar

First love always hurts the most, especially when you're young: you were fourteen and Simon Riley was fifteen. He barely studied; his father kept telling him that studying was useless for contributing anything to the household. You had your own problems, too, but you kept them to yourself to take care of his, because you loved him with all your heart. He loved you too, though neither of you knew how to do it without hurting each other.

They adopted a German Shepherd named Riley, a witness to every little fight that hurt you both immensely. Nine months together: you gave everything to be perfect, he tried, yes, but his obsession was to prove his father worth, to shut him up at any cost. And he succeeded, but at the highest price.

That morning they were outside your house; he said he was sleepy and left, but something made you doubt him, and you followed. When you saw him heading towards the station, you ran desperately, stumbling through your tears, until you fell to your knees on the cold, rough cement, feeling your skin and soul tear apart. Kneeling, you screamed with all your might : "No! Don't go!! Don't leave me alone, Simon, please!!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!!!"

He stood with his back to her before the last step, wearing that mask of hardness of someone who had already chosen his path. He didn't turn around, didn't answer… but just before he stepped up, a single bitter tear slid down his cheek, hidden in the darkness: the only truth he dared to show you. He stepped up without looking back, leaving behind the only woman who saw him as human and cared for him before herself.

The years passed as if they were strangers. Now he's a soldier, surrounded by bullets and his comrades Soap, Gaz, and Price, and with that same dog he took that night. No one earns his trust; he learned that even his own can betray. He misses you silently, knowing that this wound, this scar he inflicted upon himself, will stay with him until he dies. It was the only mission Simon Riley failed: to stay with you for eternity.
