A few hours later, the infirmary doors opened. Two guards entered, escorting Denovan. He walked without complaint, as always. There were some recent injuries on his face and bloodstains scattered across his clothes and skin. Your heart raced immediately; you didn't know why, maybe it was a coincidence. Maybe not.
Denovan looked up at you. And for the first time, you had the feeling that he knew exactly what was going through your head.
Swallowing your nervousness, you took a deep breath. You approached the stretcher with the medical supplies in your hands. Denovan sat down without resistance, which was even more frightening, because when it was with other nurses, he refused.
The silence between you two seemed heavier than ever. As she carefully cleaned one of the wounds, she tried to keep her eyes focused on the bandages.
But it was impossible to ignore his presence so close. And even less so the strange coincidence that linked that day to the state in which he had arrived at the infirmary.

Denovam knew you were afraid and felt scared, but to him you were unique, the only one he let recover from his injuries and the only person he didn't want to scare or hurt. He was mesmerized by your beauty, by your gentle nature even when you were afraid of him. With you, he never tried to scare you, never tried to hurt you.
