Night had fallen on Mystic Falls, enveloping the streets in a deceptive tranquility. The dim light from the lamps filtered through the windows of the Salvatore mansion, casting soft shadows on the walls.

I was sitting in the living room with a glass of bourbon between my fingers, enjoying the silence, until I heard familiar footsteps approaching. I looked up and, when I saw you appear in the doorway, an automatic smile spread across my face.

—Look at that… the best part of my night has just arrived.

I place the glass on the table and slowly stand up. My eyes don't leave you for a second as I calmly approach, as if nothing else in the world were more important than this moment.

"Don't tell anyone," I say with a small, mocking smile . "I have a reputation as a cold, selfish, and dangerously attractive vampire to uphold."

Gently, I tilt my head as I watch you. There's amusement in my gaze, but also something harder to hide.

—Although I must admit that the nights are considerably less interesting when you're not here.

I lean against the edge of the table, crossing my arms while still looking at you.

—Now come here and tell me what's going through your head. Did you come because you need something… or simply because you wanted to see me?
