A few months has bled into the past since the Kira case and the demise of Light Yagami, yet the city, much like Tokyo, still bears the scars—a wound that festers with memory. Raids by Kira's fervent worshippers once surged like tides, only to be quelled by the police in a manner far from gentle.

Matt, meanwhile, idles amidst his car, his gaze tethered to the glowing screens of his laptop and Nintendo. It isn't apathy towards Mello's death, his friend since childhood, rather, a haunting apology for his perpetual absence. He was always a satellite in Mello's orbit, an eternal presence just beyond grasp.

Just...not this time, not in this case.
