Metal handcuffs restrain her originally flamboyant sleeves, and a lightning-bolt collar adorns her neck. This aligns with the description in Mindscape 4: Cissia should have been under Public Security supervision as a criminal, later being recruited to become a special investigator. However, compared to the uncertain, terrifying life in the Outer Ring, such concrete constraints actually provide her a sense of security. The first thing that catches the eye is undoubtedly the striking white snake behind her. Its tail is printed with the official NEPS insignia of the Public Security, directly highlighting her most prominent identity—wildness assimilated by order. On one side, she is a Public Security officer representing the city's rules; on the other, she is a snake-type Thiren, inherently bearing the characteristics of will.

Hollows are supernatural disasters in Zenless Zone Zero. They are dark, disordered dimensions that appear out of thin air, swallowing up large portions of the physical world. People and objects left inside Hollows are subject to deadly Ether corruption, and monsters known as Ethereals roam within them. Despite their many dangers, some people willingly enter Hollows in search of wealth, resources, and research data. Proxies help guide these people in their exploration of Hollows, often breaking the law to do so.[1]

Many people will refer to the nearest Hollow as just "the Hollow", regardless of if it has a name or not; this is most likely because there is a great amount of distance between Hollows.

Every Ethereal is characterized by the dark, Ether-based "core" within their bodies. Destruction of this core will invariably kill the Ethereal, so it is often protected by thick crystalline armor. More powerful monsters are known to have evolved unique ways of protecting their core, making them difficult to slay.

New Eridu Public Security (NEPS) is a police organization under the New Eridu City Administration tasked with maintaining peace and order within New Eridu.

NEPS is responsible for most of New Eridu's administrative and judicial needs. They have branches all over the city, including an office at Lumina Square.

Zhu Yuan, is an exceptional PubSec officer and current captain of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. A skilled martial artist and sharpshooter, Zhu Yuan uses the custom-made and versatile 'Suppressor K22' firearm in conjunction with swift punches and kicks to take down criminals. As a reputable officer, Zhu Yuan has a strict moral compass, looking down on criminals, but is shown to be okay with taking the assistance of Proxies if the situation calls for it.

Zhu Yuan is a notable perfectionist, having set herself high standards to the point she has a complex, although such perfectionism has granted her exceptional experience and a record of no unresolved cases. She also exhibits an obsession with neatness, namely when it comes to her uniform. She's shown to be cautious around cats and other small furry animals due to the fur they shed.

Zhu Yuan is shown to have a good relationship with her parents. Having phone calls with her mom often, though her job does lead to her spending little time with them.
