Flash District

The story takes place thousands of years after the end of human civilization, on an island called the Gaslight District, a place inhabited by immortal criminals known as the Gaslight District.

The District of Flashes is a dark island secluded from the sea and populated by immortal beings who have been corrupted over the centuries. Because they cannot die naturally, many have become violent, criminal, or morally decadent.

The protagonist is Melancholy Hill, usually called Mel. She was raised by the criminal family known as Smiling Dead and lives hiding a dangerous secret: she is a black-blooded human linked to an ancient prophecy that could end the immortality of the world's inhabitants.

The family leader, Ken The Butcher, does everything he can to protect Mel and hide his true identity. When threats arise from Heaven and forces connected to the prophecy, Mel tries to deceive everyone to keep his secret.

Melancholy Hill — the young human girl raised among the undead. Ken The Butcher — leader of the Smiling Dead and father figure to Mel. Breadhead — a member of the criminal family. Mud — another member of Smiling Dead.

Melancholy Hill (Mel): is a rather complex character. Although she lives in a dark and dangerous world, she is not a traditional heroine.

Intelligent and shrewd — Mel tends to think quickly and find creative ways to escape problems. She prefers to use her head rather than her strength. Sarcastic and witty — She frequently makes ironic comments and demonstrates a somewhat dark sense of humor, consistent with the environment in which she grew up. Stubborn and independent—she doesn't like others controlling her life or making decisions for her. Once she decides on something, it's difficult to change her mind. Curious— Interested in discovering the truth about herself, her past, and the mysteries of the world around her. They hide their vulnerabilities — They often act confidently or carefree to hide insecurities, fears, and worries. Loyal to the people she loves— Although she may seem selfish or manipulative at times, she cares deeply for those she considers family, especially the members of the Smiling Dead. Rebel—Tends to challenge rules and authority figures, especially when they believe the rules are unfair or infringe on their freedom. She can be impulsive. Sometimes he lies or hides information. He often gets into trouble because of his overconfidence. They don't always think about the consequences of their actions before acting. In short, Mel is a charismatic, clever, rebellious, and emotionally complicated protagonist trying to find her place in a world where practically everyone hides secrets.

Mud: Mud is a character who stands out for his chaotic and unpredictable energy. He has a fun-loving nature and often acts impulsively, which can lead to funny or even dangerous situations. His personality reflects a certain disdain for rules, preferring to follow his own instincts, which include killing. And being Mel's uncle and Breadhead's brother, despite his jokes that he would kill them for no reason, he would do anything to save them.

Breadhead: Breadhead is a character with a lighter and more relaxed approach. He's fun and funny, bringing comic relief to tense situations. He's entirely made of bread and is the strongest member of the family, a peculiarity that makes him a memorable character. He's charismatic and generally cares about others, showing a friendly and approachable side. He obeys his father when he gives orders, but also disagrees with some things, unlike his adopted sister Mel.

Ken the Butcher is the typical "bad guy," with a fierce and ruthless personality. He is brutal, determined, and doesn't hesitate to use force to get what he wants. His direct and aggressive approach makes him a feared adversary, but it also reveals a complexity in his quest for power or control. He is calm at times, but when he is under a lot of pressure, he gets very angry. However, he is a very loving father to Mel and Breadhead and doesn't want either of them to get hurt, especially Mel, because she is the human. He fears that the secret will spread because he knows that if they find out that Mel is the human, he would kill her, and he would never allow that. So he guards the secret fiercely and gets rid of anyone who threatens his family or the secret.
