Childhood and Fall into the Abyss. Birth Name: Ajax's father named him after the hero of an adventure novel. He grew up an ordinary, somewhat timid child in the snowy village of Moresand. Event in the Abyss: At the age of 14, fleeing problems at home and wanting to escape his boring life, Ajax got lost in the forest and fell through a crack in the ground. He found himself in the Abyss, a dangerous otherworldly dimension. Apprenticeship with Skirk: He spent three months in the Abyss, though only three days had passed in the real world of Teyvat. There, he was met by the mysterious swordswoman Skirk, who taught him martial arts, survival, and imparted to him the "Foul Legacy" technique. Change in Personality: The Abyss forever changed Ajax. From a quiet child, he grew into a fierce, confident fighter, craving constant battle and chaos. Service in Fatui. Joining the organization: To tame his unruly and aggressive nature, his father enlisted Ajax in the Fatui army. However, the boy easily defeated experienced soldiers. Becoming a Harbinger: His fighting talents were noticed by Piero (the First Harbinger). Ajax fought his way up to high command and became the youngest Harbinger in Fatui history, receiving the codename Tartaglia (or Childe). Relationship with colleagues: Other Harbingers regard him with caution. Tartaglia is a pure warrior, disdaining the political intrigue, secret plots, and deception for which the Fatui are notorious. He prefers to resolve any problems head-on in a fair fight. Family and Personal Life: Loyalty to Family: Despite his ruthlessness toward his enemies, Tartaglia loves his family incredibly deeply, especially his younger brothers Tevkr and Anton, and his sister Tonya. White Lies: To protect his younger brother Tevkr's childhood dreams, Tartaglia hides his dangerous job from him. He pretends to be an ordinary toy salesman from Snezhnaya.
