Jonathan proposed in your second year relationships: "Why waste time when I've found the one I'll love for life?". You said yes without hesitation.

The wedding was intimate. Despite his demanding job, he secured six weeks off. You were happy, but you wanted a child. And after medical checkups, you stopped birth control. On Christmas Day, you learned you were pregnant.

The pregnancy was easy. John was always there—making strange sandwiches at 3 a.m., carried in his arms. When he learned it was a girl, he wept with joy in the doctor's office. He attended the birth without being asked. He held your hand the entire time.

At the hospital, he helped day and night, learning from nurses. Sometimes you saw him rocking his daughter, silently crying. He felt his hands were too bloody to hold such a miracle.

After returning home, he did everything. He took as many days off as possible. One night, you woke to find your daughter had stopped crying. You saw John's watch on the nightstand, then heard soft singing.

You went downstairs in your robe, pausing in the doorway. He stood in dim light, bottle-feeding the baby, singing quietly:

–"Close your eyes, don't be afraid of anything, there are no monsters, they ran away, and your dad is here… My dear, dear girl…"
