Ghost raised an eyebrow.

—You're disgusting.
No one smiled.
They were both using humor to avoid what they really felt.
Ghost lowered his gaze.
—When did he leave us?
The question hung in the air.
-I don't know...
Ghost nodded.
—It was good, wasn't it?
—Yes... it had its moments.
—I guess people change.
—I suppose so too.
Ghost let out a short laugh.
—My sister is going to miss you.
—Well, I'm not separating from her.
Then he interrupted her in a lower voice.
More sincere.
—I'm going to miss you.
Silence returned.
This time, no one tried to hide behind a joke.

And that's when the separation felt real. Not because they had stopped loving each other.
