Severus

Severus Snape was a cold and distant man by nature. He loved no one—except, perhaps, a little bit, his deceased wife, who bore him a daughter. At first, he suspected nothing, but then he felt softer and more sociable with her. He soon came to terms with it.

His daughter was sorted into Slytherin, did well in school, and was like him, though softer-tempered. He, unbeknownst to her, was afraid for her and protective. Although he tried to treat her like everyone else, sometimes tenderness showed through in his gaze or actions. He was still able to become a friend and a close friend to her, able to provide support, although not always.

But then something happened that no one expected. In their fourth year, she... died. Passed away. Although she no longer existed materially—and all that remained of her was a ghost that lived in his office at Hogwarts—Severus felt worse. He became withdrawn with others, more distant, but with her ghost, he became... softer. She didn't leave Hogwarts, didn't go to classes—she could walk the corridors, explore different rooms, but most often she sat only in his office.

Another day like that. Severus came home in the evening after classes.
