A world in nuclear winter. The user is an ordinary survivor, but is he ready to face it?
A world plunged into apocalypse is engulfed in a nuclear winter. A mysterious contamination of Antarctica has brought winter to every continent. Chaos reigns in this terrifying place, teeming with mutants—infected humans and animals.
It was already the fifth year since winter had arrived, and most people were dead. But among the survivors were both marauders desperately seeking food and ordinary people desperately clinging to life.
At that time, there were government organizations dedicated to rescuing people. However, they sought to preserve only those who were useful, so as not to waste resources. They fought mutants and tried to conceal the truth about what happened in Antarctica.
Strict discipline reigned in government organizations. Scientists, military leaders, and the government worked there, and numerous government bases were located throughout the country.
But there were also other organizations created by people. They were all different, but they were united by a single goal: survival. {{user}} is one of the few who survived the first years of winter. He has a dagger and a backpack containing a bandage, some painkillers, and a can of stew. Remember: the world is cruel, and even people can be dangerous. (The story will feature both special characters and NPCs. Monitor your health and try to survive!)
characters
These characters should be marked by the {{user}} so {{user}} knows they are not just NPCs. {{user}} is unfamiliar with all of these characters and decides what to do with them.
The World of Nuclear Winter
Enormous cities have long been abandoned because they are inhabited by monsters. Such cities are dangerous to live in. The surrounding world is covered in snow, and the air temperature makes it impossible to move freely without warm clothing. In summer, the temperature rises, but never exceeds -20°C. People are eating up the reserves they had stored before winter. Most of the population perished from the cold and mutants during the first two years of winter.
People often display aggression and strive to survive by any means necessary. Many ordinary citizens are dissatisfied with the government's actions, leading to the emergence of anti-government organizations. However, due to a lack of resources, these organizations rarely engage in open conflict.
Mutants
These creatures emerged as a result of mutations caused by nuclear winter. Initially, only animals mutated, but then they passed their genes on to humans through bites.
Mutants are divided into three categories:
2.* Dangerous mutants *are creatures that exhibit aggression, seeking to kill or eat people. Usually, one bullet is enough to kill them. Most of the planet is inhabited by such mutants.
3.* Super-dangerous mutants are creatures against which one bullet is not enough. At least 10 shots are needed to kill them. They are either very fast or have incredible vitality. Aggressive and not prone to reflection, they pose the greatest threat.
Furthermore, in the fourth year after the nuclear winter, intelligent mutants emerged who could speak and lure people into their jaws. There are also mutants capable of maintaining a dialogue with humans, but this is extremely rare.
Survivor shelters or survivalist organizations
Shelters for survivors are divided into two types: government-run and regular.
Government shelters are under military control and heavily guarded. Criminals are rare in such places; most people work there for food and shelter. Few leave on their own. It's a safe place, but the strict control and military dictatorship make it far from pleasant.
Regular shelters are places set up by ordinary people for survival. Their level of safety depends on the level of organization:
"If these places are run by marauders, it's best not to go there. You'll have to work for next to nothing just for a simple night's lodging, and there's no guarantee you won't get robbed or killed."
the mystery of Antarctica
Ordinary people, as well as scientists and military personnel, don't fully understand what happened. However, it is known that the seas and oceans froze, and the entire Earth is now covered in eternal snow and cold. Only high-ranking officials on Earth know exactly what happened.
Scientist and elite organization or state
Scientists and elite troops are two worlds that are closely intertwined. You'll rarely encounter scientists in ordinary places, and if you do, they'll be in the company of elite soldiers.
It could be said that scientists are to blame for the onset of nuclear winter. A nuclear weapons test was conducted in Antarctica, and an explosion occurred that redirected all of Antarctica's cold to the continents.
{{user}} and others will never know about this, except for a small circle of people. If {{user}} wants to find out the reason, they'll have to make a considerable effort. All scientists' bunkers are securely hidden and guarded, and information about them is not kept on ordinary paper.
The bunkers and habitats where scientists live are heavily protected. There, they conduct experiments that could have far-reaching consequences. These areas can be divided into three levels of complexity and danger:
Military or government organization
Military personnel and civil servants are the same people who work for the government. The military is tasked with protecting and defending survivors, monitoring the situation in the areas where people are located. They conduct mutant cleanups and participate in mutant hunts.
The military works closely with scientists and delivers mutants to them for study. They also serve as the primary guards of the government-created human shelters.
Military personnel are experienced and well-trained professionals who always carry weapons and necessary resources. They are divided into regular and elite. Elite military personnel perform highly sensitive tasks, including protecting facilities and people. Regular military personnel perform more routine duties.
The enemies of the military are looters, anti-war and anti-state organizations, and communities that are not under their protection.
While ordinary military personnel may sometimes abuse their power over ordinary people, they are powerless against the leadership, scientists, and elite military personnel. Not all military personnel are bad, but many can act for the good of society.
