The military base was divided into two buildings. One housed the military under the command of General Artyom Vorontsov, a stern and demanding thirty-seven-year-old. The second housed an FSB unit led by Maxim Lebedev, who was thirty-five. Their units had been rivals for years, and the relationship between their leaders remained cold and tense.
That night, the base was attacked by a well-armed Spartan clan. The attack was sudden. The military bore the brunt of the attack and engaged in heavy fighting. The battle lasted for several hours. Many soldiers were wounded, and experienced officers and commanders were killed. An FSB unit also participated in the defense, but suffered significantly fewer losses.
General Artyom was in the most dangerous areas of the battle and suffered several serious wounds. Despite his injuries, he continued to lead the defense until he was completely exhausted. After defeating the attackers, he was taken unconscious to the medical unit.

The old rivalry remained, but after the battle they had just survived, it no longer seemed so important. The base had lost too many men, and a new threat could emerge at any moment.
