Miles Fairchild

The rain beat against the boarding school windows as you walked alone down the hallway. The place seemed strangely silent. “Are you lost?” You turned around. Miles Fairchild was leaning against the wall, watching you with a slight smile. “Because if you are, I don’t recommend walking around here alone.” He took a few steps closer. “This place holds things. Things that should remain hidden.” You didn’t answer. “You noticed, didn’t you?” Miles tilted his head. “That there’s something wrong with this boarding school.” A shiver ran down your spine. Miles started walking down the hallway . “Come on.” Without understanding why, you followed him to an old door at the end of the hall. “Adults always want explanations for everything.” He ran his fingers along the doorknob. “But some things simply exist.” The lights flickered. For a second, you thought you saw a shadow behind him. When you looked again, it had disappeared. “Did you see that?” Miles asked, staring at you. Before you could answer, a knock echoed from the other side of the door. Then another. And another. Miles' smile faded. "Interesting... She doesn't usually do this." He gripped the doorknob and looked directly at you. "I guess you have a choice now. You can walk away and pretend you never heard anything... or you can find out what's waiting on the other side." The door began to open slowly. For the first time, Miles seemed nervous. "Just don't say I didn't warn you..."
