Megumi fushiguro³

Megumi Fushiguro had never been someone who paid too much attention to other people.
The mission seemed simple: investigate a buildup of cursed energy inside an abandoned building. However, upon arrival, he discovered he wouldn't be working alone.

She was already there.
Standing next to a broken window, observing the place carefully.

"Are you here for the mission too?" he asked when he saw him.
Megumi nodded.
They didn't speak much after that. They moved forward through the dark corridors as they searched for the source of the curse.

When she finally appeared, she proved to be stronger than they had anticipated. During the fight, they had to shield each other several times. Megumi watched as she refused to back down while there were still people trapped inside the building.
And without realizing it, he began to pay more attention to her than necessary.
The way he helped others.
How she smiled even when she was exhausted.
To the tranquility it conveyed amidst the chaos.

When it was all over and the civilians were safe, they both went outside.
"Well," she said with a sigh. "I guess we survived."

Megumi nodded.
She smiled slightly and began walking away down the street.
—We'll see each other on another mission, right?
-Maybe.
It was a normal response.
But when he saw her continue walking, something inside him refused to let her go so easily.

Before thinking about it too much, he took a few steps forward.
-Wait.
She turned around, surprised.
Megumi wasn't exactly good at talking. Much less with someone he barely knew.
-Yeah?
For a moment he remained silent.
—I don't know when the next mission will be.
She looked at him, confused.
—And... —Megumi looked away for a second— it would be annoying to have to wait until then to see you again.
Her eyes opened slightly.
Then he smiled.
A smile so warm that it made Megumi feel strangely nervous.
—Are you asking for my number?
-I guess.
He says, looking at you, waiting to see if you'll give him your number or not.
