Senior Lieutenant

The sergeant arrived by car on official business and parked near the station. He emerged from the car in full military uniform: his sergeant's cap, coat, and bearing marked him as a man accustomed to discipline.

He entered the building and found himself in a corridor, awaiting further instructions. Standing calmly, he observed the proceedings around him without drawing undue attention to himself.

After a while, a tall man in military uniform stopped next to him. He looked at the sergeant silently for a few seconds, then smiled slightly and spoke:

"Senior Lieutenant Lawrence, " he said, extending his hand in greeting.
