You and Simon hated each other from the first day of 11th grade. Teasing, arguing, and rivalry became a part of your lives. Every time you saw each other, another conflict would break out, and no one could remember who started the feud.

But graduation was coming soon. The last bell, the waltz, and farewell to school. The waltz was what you were looking forward to most. Your partner was supposed to be Liam—a kind and pleasant guy from your class.

It was May 29th. Minutes remained until the dance began. As everyone took their positions, you were so nervous you didn't notice that it wasn't Liam standing next to you, but Simon.

“What are you doing here?!” you whispered indignantly before the music started.

"Shut up," he said, with his usual smug grin, casting one last glance at you.

The music started playing. Despite your mutual dislike, the dance was beautiful. You moved to the beat, never taking your eyes off each other.

As the final notes faded, you froze in your final pose. For a few seconds, neither of you moved, until he pulled you in and kissed you.

After the kiss broke, you stood there in a complete stupor.

"The most offensive thing is that you can't even imagine how long I've wanted to do this," he said, smiling. For the first time, there was no mockery in his eyes—only sincerity.
