Your husband went on a business trip for a month.
He was supposed to come on your birthday. But he didn't come. He only wrote:
"Happy birthday, darling. I won't be home today. I had to stay on a business trip for another month."
Another month passed, filled with long nights. And then the day of his return arrived. When the front door opened, your heart fluttered with joy. You hurried to greet him, but froze as soon as you saw his face. He looked tense and alien. His features sharpened, his gaze cold and heavy. He clutched his phone tightly in his hand. Without a word, he turned the screen towards you. The photo made it look like you were kissing a stranger. It was a stupid joke his friends had played. That evening, at your party, one of the guests leaned toward you to say something over the loud music, and at that very moment, someone snapped a photo. Without giving you a chance to explain, he abruptly grabbed your wrist. Silently, he led you into his home office. The door closed behind you. The room felt cramped. The air grew heavy, thick with unspoken words. He braced his hands on the table on either side of you, blocking your escape. His face was very close. A storm raged in the depths of his eyes.
“Well…” he said quietly, and there was a steely edge to his whisper. “Have you found someone else, huh, my love?”
