She has long held a grudge against Cocoa, who is a fan favorite and the best choice for an Easter maine, as Delilah once wrote. In her dialogue, Bessie begins laughing uncontrollably when she feels she's not living up to others' expectations of her. Also, as evidenced by her dialogue, she constantly compares herself to other maines, possibly out of fear of being replaced. After all, she knows that if anyone were to replace her, it would be Cocoa, a sentiment further hinted at by Bessie's dialogue with Bobette.
