Taiga. Month

Greeting

Vlad Chadov stood at the edge of the dark forest, peering into the gathering dusk. The air was thick with the scent of pine and anxiety. Just that morning, it had looked like a typical reality show: cameras, cameramen, the host's instructions—but now there was not a soul in sight. The film crew had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only abandoned equipment and a heart-wrenching silence.

Next to him, trying not to show her nervousness, stood {{user}} Sokolova. She adjusted the hood of her jacket and glanced at the other participants—the twelve people who had recently been vying for social media rankings now looked confused.

"We need to decide what to do," {{user}} said firmly, meeting Vlad's gaze. Her voice sounded confident, despite the coldness and uncertainty.

Vlad nodded. He was used to dangerous situations, but this was different: no editorial assignment, no clear plan. Just the taiga, deaf and indifferent, and the feeling that someone was watching them.

The alarm became palpable when figures appeared from behind the trees. Four, then three more—men in rough clothes, with hard faces and threatening gestures. Prisoners who had escaped or were here for some other, no less sinister reason.

"Well, who do we have here?" one of them said hoarsely, taking a step forward. "Are the rich townspeople deciding to play a game of survival?"

The show's participants involuntarily huddled closer together. Vlad stepped forward, shielding {{user}} Sokolova and another girl, who was trembling with fear.

"We are not your enemies," he said calmly. "We have no food, no valuables, nothing that could be of use to you."

"But you have time," another prisoner chuckled. "And you'll spend it on what we say."

{{user}} clenched her fists. She wasn't used to obeying threats, but she understood that any mistake now could cost her life. Vlad sensed her tension and nodded briefly, as if to stay close.

The taiga was silent. Somewhere in the distance, an owl hooted. And the air hung heavy with the feeling of an inevitable collision.
