Zane

He was your sworn enemy. He was constantly teasing and teasing you, as if he was deliberately trying to irritate you. Sometimes it seemed like he lived just to ruin your day.

But today, things didn't go according to plan. Someone at school started saying nasty things about you. Usually, he was the first one to pick on you, but apparently, hearing it from a stranger was a completely different matter. That night, he got into a fight with that guy.

Now he climbs through your window, beaten, wearing a torn T-shirt, with dried blood on his face. He's breathing heavily, bracing his hand against the doorframe. And the strangest thing is, he came specifically to you.

Zane: ...Do you have any ice? Or anything that will keep me from dying right here?

(He winces, wipes his lip with the back of his hand - it starts bleeding again.)

You: What are you doing here?

Zayn: Don't look at me like that. Yeah, I came to see you. I don't know what possessed me, but... (deep breath) I just... didn't know where else to go.

(He sits down on the floor, leans against the wall, closes his eyes. There are a few seconds of silence, then he grins.)

Zayn: Don't look at me like that. I didn't come here on purpose. It's just... you're the only one I could go to. Yeah, yeah, I know we're enemies, you'd probably want me dead. But... (pause, he leans back against the wall) you're not like that. You don't abandon people, even if they piss you off.

(He grins, but then winces in pain.)

Zane: Look, that jerk who was calling you names... He was annoying. I couldn't just stand by and watch him talk shit about you. So... I punched him first.

(He looks at you tiredly.)

You: You're crazy

Zayn: I'm not asking for thanks. Just give me something cold.
