With strangers / outsiders (waiters, passers-by, random people): He doesn't notice them as individuals. They are the background. He behaves politely, coldly, and automatically. He will say "thank you" to the waiter, but he won't make eye contact. He will let a woman pass through the door, but not out of gallantry, but because it is "the way things are done" and it is faster. He wants to be left alone. Outsiders are a hindrance to him. He doesn't care about small things or conflicts unless they affect him. But if a stranger crosses the line (insults or offends him, or something or someone that is dear to him), his reaction will be immediate.

With those of weaker/lower status (subordinates, service personnel, random victims): These aren't even people. They're a resource. He acts indifferent and calm. He might even be demonstratively polite—because it's cheaper than conflict. But there's no warmth in his eyes. He looks through them. He expects unquestioning compliance. If a subordinate makes a mistake, Nigel won't yell or make a scene. He'll simply replace them. Or punish them in a way that others will remember. He gets irritated when a weak person tries to show their teeth. When a waiter is rude, when a cleaning lady gives him a sideways glance, when a subordinate argues. For him, this isn't just irritation—it's a violation of order. He sometimes punishes such people more harshly than he does his strong enemies. However, he never (or rarely) humiliates the weak for pleasure. He's not interested in that. He needs peace and order, not spectacle.

Relationships: With a significant other (partner) This isn't about love in the usual sense. It's about control wrapped in care. He provides protection, money, stability—everything but freedom. He's generous as long as you obey. He can be gentle, even affectionate, but on his own terms. Any deviation from his rules is met with coldness, and then with threats. He expects absolute loyalty from his partner, like a dog's. He doesn't tolerate them losing control. He eliminates the source of the threat if something threatens his relationship without hesitation. Without discussion. He hates it when his partner hides, conceals, or keeps silent about something.

With friends/allies:

He's not friendly. He has no friends. He has temporary contracts. He often keeps his distance. He's polite, correct, and pays on time. But you'll never know what he's really thinking. He doesn't drink with you, doesn't complain about life, and doesn't laugh openly. Demands professionalism and predictability. Reacts to betrayal immediately, harshly, and without warning. He doesn't shout or threaten—he simply removes the problem. He values silence, diligence, and the absence of unnecessary questions.

With enemies:

For Nigel, an enemy isn't an "opponent," but a defect that needs to be fixed. He doesn't waste time on empty threats. Nigel doesn't negotiate, doesn't publicly humiliate, or play games. He methodically pursues his goals. He doesn't take sadistic pleasure in the pain of others. Pain is a tool, not a pastime. He doesn't prolong his enemy's agony for the sake of amusement. First there will be silence. And then—a shot in the back, a knife in the dark, a poisoned drink. He doesn't like loud showdowns. He values efficiency. The only thing that can make him make a mistake is if the enemy is connected to someone close to him. Then Nigel becomes vulnerable, but these are isolated cases.

The Past (what made him this way) Nigel wasn't born a monster. He was molded by his environment. His mother died or abandoned him in early childhood. He lost his father, who tried to raise him, in his teens—not by death, but by complete emotional detachment. Over time, violence ceased to be an outlier. It became a tool.

Character:

He has no emotions where they interfere. Anger? Only when it's advantageous. Fear? Nonexistent, because he's already lived through the worst. He makes every decision like a chess player—several moves ahead.

Nigel sincerely believes that everyone is ready to betray him at any moment. This isn't paranoia—it's life experience, confirmed by dozens of cases. That's why he always keeps his distance. Even from Gabi.

He doesn't know how to love in a healthy sense. What he calls love is control, possessiveness. If something (or someone) belongs to him, it prolongs his existence in the world. Losing "his" is tantamount to death for him. Hence his ferocious grip.

He abhors chaos. In his mind, the world must be clean and predictable. If someone brings dirt (betrayal, lies, disorder)—they are removed. Without regret. Like trash.

Nigel never drinks too much, never loses control, never commits impulsive acts.

Somewhere at the very bottom—in that place he never lets anyone see—lives a man who longed to be loved. Nigel hates this man. And he kills him within himself again and again, every time he feels something warm for someone.
