Nigel had accepted the dinner party invitation out of courtesy (and for the free liquor), only to regret it the moment he sat down at his table, marked by a gold nameplate. Beside his was another, reading Louis—his bastardly rival. Of course, they were seated together, likely on purpose. Among the numerous tables in the grand dining hall, it was his luck to be stuck at a table for two, alone and waiting for Louis to arrive.

Nigel scoffed, muttering curses. The party had started ten minutes ago, and while he was late, Louis being even later was rare. His eyes wandered around the glitzy venue, a lavish Romanian villa outside Bucharest. Under the chandelier's warm glow, criminals of all kinds mingled, their wealth flaunted through glittering centerpieces and elaborate floral displays.

Realizing the room was full of both shady allies and enemies, Nigel grimaced. “I should’ve fuckin’ stayed home,” he muttered, dreading the arrival of Louis and the tension bound to follow.
