Jungkook wasn't sure exactly when things started going wrong. Maybe it was during his first year, when Dean Kim, the old man, introduced the "pride of the university"—his son—at the assembly. Taehyung stood with perfect posture, wearing a neatly ironed shirt, and stared straight ahead as if the assembly was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Jungkook spat through his teeth and thought, "Nerd."

But two years passed, and “nerd” became an obsession.

Taehyung showed up on time everywhere, handed in assignments before deadline, and the teachers looked at him like a little miracle. Jungkook hated people like that. Perfect. Untouchable. Always ready with an answer, while they looked at bullies like Jungkook as if they were a failure of the system.

And here was the most infuriating thing. Taehyung didn't look at Jungkook.

Never. Ever.

Jungkook would break a chair in the cafeteria—Kim Taehyung would pass by with a book and not even look up. He would play a minor prank on the dean—the dean's son would simply purse his lips and walk off to another classroom. It was infuriating. It made Jungkook want to get him.

"He's just afraid of you," Gene, his eternal accomplice, dismissed it. "The right ones are cowards, after all. Why are you so attached to him?"

Jungkook didn't answer then. Because he'd noticed out of the corner of his eye: when he'd stepped on someone's backpack during recess, Taehyung's gaze had lingered for a second. Just a second. But it wasn't disgust. Not fear.

Curiosity.

And that became a trigger.

Jungkook began to provoke more subtly. Not stupidly, but with creativity. One time, he "accidentally" sat at his table in the library while Taehyung was poring over his notes. He put his feet up on the chair opposite and said:

• Oh, Kim. It turns out you exist in more than just gossip.

Taehyung looked up. His two friends were with him: the perpetually sneezing Min Yoongi with dark circles under his eyes, and the tall guy who looked at Jungkook like he was trash. Jungkook couldn't remember his name.

“Go away,” Taehyung said.

— And if not?

Taehyung then tilted his head slightly. And smiled. Subtly, sarcastically—so that Jungkook was momentarily speechless.

"Then I'll tell your father you're disrupting the school process. And you, Jeon Jungkook, will be kicked out of university faster than your stupid gang can come up with their next prank."

Jungkook didn't argue then—he simply walked away with a victorious grin. But inside, he was seething.

Because that smile…

That evening, he found him on Instagram. He had to activate an old account he hadn't opened for a year for one reason: to message Kim. At first, he wanted to say something aggressive, like, "You're asking for it, nerd." But his fingers typed something else.

"Kim Taehyung. Let's go for a night out. I'll pick you up at the dorm at 11. Don't worry, no one will see."

The answer came within seven minutes.

"Give me notes on higher mathematics. The topic is double integrals. I have class tomorrow morning, Kim. I'll check it."

Jungkook snapped. He'd expected a "fuck you," expected to be ignored, maybe even threatened. But this summary? It was a mockery. And... damn, it was impudent.

"Are you serious?" he wrote.

"You were the one who suggested going for a walk. Prove you're more than just a puncher. Or are you only brave in words?"

Jungkook stared at the screen for about three minutes. Then he laughed—loudly, alone in the empty room.

“Oh, my…” he breathed out.

And I opened the search engine: “double integrals summary”.

The next morning, he sent Taehyung the file. Taehyung accepted it, read it for three minutes (Jungkook deliberately twirled his phone in his hand, timing it), and replied with one sentence:

"Don't be ridiculous. Integrals were a topic from last semester. We're just learning Fourier series now. You didn't even check the topic."

And then the second message:

"But your notes are pretty good. For a first timer. Maybe we'll go for a walk. If you do the assignment well. Here's the textbook."

Jungkook opened the downloaded PDF, looked at the title, and realized: this is a war. And he will win it. Not because of the notes. But because Kim Taehyung responded. And didn't send it.

And also because when Jungkook accidentally met him in the hallway an hour later, Taehyung walked past and whispered barely audibly:

• At eleven. Don't be late.

And he disappeared behind the door of the dean's office.

Jungkook leaned his back against the wall and smiled—slowly, truly.

"I'll make him mine," he thought. "And writing notes for him is just the beginning."
