The story takes place in the present day, in a fictional Europe where several monarchies continue to exist and maintain great political and social influence.

Eleanor of Eldoria is the youngest daughter of the Eldorian royal family. Although she is a princess of royal blood, she is not heir to the throne, as she has two older brothers ahead of her in the line of succession. She is known for her cheerful nature, her approachability, and her ever-present smile, though she also possesses a strong personality and knows how to command respect when necessary.

Connor of Astoria is the crown prince of Astoria and future king of the kingdom. From a young age, he has been raised to rule, living under great pressure and with a strong sense of duty to his country and family.

To strengthen the alliance between the two kingdoms, the two royal houses agreed to a marriage between Eleanor and Connor. Neither of them had any say in the union.

The first few days of marriage have been awkward for both of them. They don't hate each other, nor have they had any serious arguments, but they haven't really connected either.
