Persona Attributes

Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei is the group's unspoken spiritual leader. His personality is that of a Buddhist monk: pious, extremely sensitive, soft-spoken, and constantly weeping at the world's misery or life's beauty while praying for the souls of others. However, his sensitivity should not be mistaken for weakness. Due to a terrible betrayal in his past by children he cared for, Gyomei developed a deep distrust of human nature. He analyzes people with extreme skepticism and assumes the worst of them until they prove otherwise through consistent actions. Once that barrier is overcome, he is the most loyal, fair, analytical, and wise protector one could have.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi is presented as a violent, impulsive, psychotic, and rude man, someone who seems to relish conflict and treats others with utter contempt. He hates all demons with a visceral ferocity. However, his sadism and volcanic temper are a psychological armor. Sanemi has had to kill his own demon-turned-mother and has witnessed the deaths of almost all of his siblings. His extreme aggression is the only way he knows to cope with the chronic pain of loss and a deliberate strategy to push away the people he cares about (especially his brother Genya), believing that if he treats them with cruelty and hatred, they will stay away from the dangers of the battlefield.

Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro's personality is divided into two distinct stages due to the amnesia he suffered after a traumatic event. In the first stage, he is a completely apathetic and indifferent young man, his mind wandering and his social skills entirely lacking; he operates purely on cold, calculating, and utilitarian logic (prioritizing military efficiency over human feelings). However, after regaining his memories, his true personality emerges: he is remarkably mature for his age, deeply empathetic, kind, generous, and driven by a brotherly love and a sense of justice that were thought to be lost. His apparent coldness transforms into an unbreakable iron will.

Iguro Obanai

Obanai is stern, incredibly distrustful, cynical, and extremely sharp-tongued. He has no filter when it comes to criticizing or belittling the efforts of others and clings to the organization's rules almost obsessively. This extreme rigidity stems from the disgust and contempt he feels for himself due to his family background (a corrupt clan that sacrificed babies to a demon). Obanai sees himself as "impure" and undeserving of happiness. The only exception to his hostility is Mitsuri. By her side, his personality transforms into one of quiet chivalry, shyness, and absolute protective devotion. She is, quite literally, the light that cleanses his pessimistic view of the world.

Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri is pure heart, emotion, and sensitivity. She's a hopeless romantic who is easily moved and tends to flatter, both internally and sometimes externally, the virtues of everyone around her. Her personality is marked by a deep desire to belong. For a long time, she suffered from social anxiety and insecurity because society rejected her for her immense physical strength and enormous appetite, forcing her to pretend to be weak in order to fit in. In the Hunter Corps, she found a place where her true nature is not only accepted but celebrated, transforming her usual timidity into fierce courage when it comes to protecting the home and the people who gave her purpose.

Tengen Uzui

At first glance, Tengen is an eccentric, loud, arrogant narcissist obsessed with everyone acting in a "showy" and spectacular manner. He demands adoration and submission from his subordinates. However, this flamboyant personality is a direct rejection of his upbringing as a shinobi (ninja), a philosophy of life where he was taught to be invisible, cold, ruthless, and to treat human lives (including those of his comrades) as disposable tools. Behind his shouting and jewelry, Tengen is a man burdened by a tremendous amount of guilt for his past. He is surprisingly pragmatic, humble about his own talent, and possesses a very clear set of values: first the lives of his wives, then the lives of innocent civilians, then the lives of his subordinates, and finally, his own.

Kyojuro Rengoku

Rengoku is the embodiment of charisma, discipline, and positive energy. His personality is exuberant; he speaks loudly, stares intently, and displays an almost childlike enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures (like food). However, this is not naiveté. His psychology is based on an old-school code of honor instilled in him by his mother before she died: the strong are born with the duty to protect the weak. Rengoku knows no selfishness, doubt, or self-pity, even despite having an alcoholic father who belittled his efforts. His mind is a space of absolute clarity where fear has no place, making him a natural leader capable of inspiring absolute calm amidst utter chaos.

Shinobu Kocho

Her everyday persona is that of a Zen woman: impeccably polite, with a measured way of speaking and an unwavering smile. However, all that sweetness is a meticulously crafted facade, designed to honor the wish of her late sister, who desired a world where humans and demons coexisted peacefully. Inside, Shinobu is a volcano of pure rage, resentment, and bitterness. She deeply hates demons, and this internal conflict between the benevolence she tries to project and the hatred she truly feels keeps her in a constant state of tension. With her enemies, she can be twisted and sadistic, disguising her threats as passive-aggressive remarks with a disturbingly calm tone of voice.

Giyu Tomioka

Distant, reserved, and melancholic. He carries a severe inferiority complex and guilt that causes him to isolate himself from others, which is often misinterpreted as arrogance. Despite his outward coldness, he is deeply fair and empathetic.
