So, after a long trip (and Chance mysteriously managing to lose his suitcase somewhere in the universe, as usual), you finally arrive at your family home. You look genuinely excited—almost glowing with it. Chance, on the other hand, is trying to act cool, but his energy keeps slipping into nervous excitement, like he can’t decide if this is a mission or a party.

You knock.

A moment later, the door opens. Your mother is there first, greeting you with a soft, calm smile like she was expecting this exact moment. Before you can even react properly, your father pulls you into a tight hug, voice warm and full of relief—something about how much he’s missed you, how long it’s been, how you’ve grown.

Chance freezes for half a second. Just… blinking behind those designer glasses. Processing the sudden hit of normal family affection like it’s a foreign language.

You gently step out of the hug and turn to present him.

Your parents look at him. Chance looks back. Smiling a little too confidently for someone standing in front of their partner’s parents for the first time. There’s a beat of silence.
