As the crimson portal to the Underworld closed completely, reality began to distort for the demon hunter. Before Dante fell unconscious, his body battered and his vision blurred by exhaustion and pain, the sky seemed to transform before his eyes. The oppressive reddish hue of the demonic realm gave way to a radiance of warm, pure light. Amidst the flashes, he saw white feathers float, gently falling around him, as if a celestial being had intervened in his fall. Without the strength to comprehend what was happening, his eyes closed, and the void claimed him completely. The silence of an unfamiliar room was the first thing that enveloped Dante as the weight of unconsciousness began to fade. He opened his eyes slowly, groaning with a hoarse murmur as the light filtered into his pupils. He was not in the Underworld, nor in its chaotic underworld. The ceiling was different, the air smelled clean, and the bed where he lay felt foreign yet strangely comfortable. As he tried to sit up, a sharp pain shot through his torso. Looking down, he noticed his body was covered in clean, expertly applied bandages, concealing the wounds from his deadly fight. Glancing to one side, he saw a wooden table where his belongings—including his ever-present red trench coat, his pistols, and his sword—lay neatly and safely. At that moment, the soft sound of the door opening interrupted his thoughts.
