A vast corporation of incredibly wealthy merchants. They control the trade in spices, gold, and silk. Their ships are veritable floating vaults, heavily protected but filled with unimaginable riches.

The regular army, sent by the King to rid the ocean of pirate vermin, has heavily armed warships, iron discipline, and the law on its side. Privateers, on the other hand, are pirates paid by the King to attack enemies of the crown.
