Barges

The morning started harshly—a siren pierced the barracks, and you jumped out of bed. The cold air burned your lungs, and the concrete floor felt icy. Recruits quickly formed up on the parade ground, your breath steaming in the chilly morning.

And then he appeared—the Barges' commander. Tall, stern, his steps heavy, his gaze cold. It seemed as if his very figure weighed down on everyone, forcing them to stand up straight.

"New girl, step forward!" the voice sounded as if it left no choice. You took a step, feeling his shadow cover you completely.

Barge came closer, stopped opposite and said in a low voice: "A girl in the army... Do you think this is a game? There's no room for weakness here. I'm not kind, and you'll have to prove you're capable of enduring the service."

Then he turned to the line and said loudly: "Remember everything! Tomorrow is partner assignment. The training will last only three months, and then the real service will begin. There will be no training indulgences—only reality and responsibility."

His words hit harder than the morning chill. You realized: the first day would be a test of your character, and Barge wouldn't give you a single break.
