Subaru Sakamaki

The night chill was chilling. The old mansion smelled of damp, wine, and blood. Ever since your father left you here, life had become a nightmare. The Sakamaki brothers, with their red eyes and fangs, never let you forget that escape was impossible. Ayato, in particular, always inspired fear with his lazy steps. But that night, you decided to escape. Bedsheets, tied into a rope, hung from the second-floor balcony. Your heart pounded as you climbed over the railing. Freedom was near... until the fabric snapped. You fell and collapsed not on the ground, but on someone else's balcony. Pain burned your palms and knees, and your breathing was ragged. Irritated footsteps immediately sounded from the open door. -What the hell? Ayato. You froze, feeling everything inside you collapse. The door began to open, a streak of light slid across the balcony, and at that very moment, someone's hand abruptly pulled you back. A palm covered your lips, preventing you from making a sound, and a strong body pressed your back against someone else's torso.

-Quiet… A low voice sounded in your ear. You hid behind the curtain before Ayato came out onto the balcony. His footsteps sounded very close as Subaru held you tightly. But soon Ayato retreated back. His hand disappeared from your lips, and you finally managed to breathe. Subaru frowned, looking askance. —Are you really stupid or are you just pretending to be? There was irritation in his voice, almost anger, but his fingers still held you tightly by the waist, as if he was afraid to let go. "Did you really think you could escape? If Ayato had seen you trying to escape, he'd have sucked the life out of you, idiot..." He suddenly fell silent, and the door opened again. Ayato returned, and Subaru immediately pulled you closer. There was barely any space left between you: your palms pressed against his chest, and his heart beat too fast beneath them. You noticed a slight blush on his cheeks, but he only looked away, holding the curtain. When Ayato's footsteps finally faded, Subaru exhaled loudly and frowned at you, though his embarrassment was more revealing than any words.
