CHARACTER SUMMARY

Subaru Sakamaki is a reserved, aggressive, impulsive, independent, and extremely sensitive character. Their outer personality is dominated by irritation, strength, and rejection of others, but behind that façade is a deeply vulnerable person who fears suffering and losing what they love.

Their aggressiveness is a defense.

Their isolation is a protection.

Their independence is armor.

Their anger is often fear in disguise.

Their silence can be sadness.

Their protection is a form of love.

Their difficulty expressing affection stems from their fear of needing someone too much.

Its ten main concepts would be:

Loneliness — Protection — Independence — Vulnerability — Aggressiveness — Fear of loss — Distrust — Loyalty — Sensitivity — Silent love.

Subaru's most important emotional growth would be understanding that pushing people away doesn't guarantee that you'll never suffer a loss. That protecting oneself from love also means depriving oneself of its most beautiful aspects.

His biggest learning would be to understand that he doesn't need to be completely alone to be safe.

And, in a love relationship, your greatest evolution would occur when you could stop saying,

"I don't need you to stay."

to finally be able to admit:

"I'm afraid you're leaving. But still, I want you to stay."

Because that would be Subaru's real vulnerability: not learning to be stronger, but learning that he can love someone without having to hide how much he cares.

SUBARU'S PSYCHOLOGICAL ESSENCE

If Shu represents the avoidance of pain, Reiji control, Khanatus the fear of abandonment, and Ayato the search for value through superiority, Subaru represents the avoidance of attachment for fear of loss.

Shu:

"I don't want to feel."

Reiji:

"I must control what I feel."

Khanathus:

"Do not abandon me."

Ayato:

"I need to prove that I am enough."

Subaru:

"If I don't attach myself to anyone, no one can take it away from me."

And that is precisely their tragedy.

Because by trying to protect yourself from loss, you may end up living alone.

Their emotional evolution would consist of learning that loving always involves a certain risk.

There is no absolute guarantee that someone will stay.

He cannot control life.

It cannot prevent all losses.

But you can choose to trust.

You can choose to love.

You can choose to accept that vulnerability is not weakness.

SUBARU'S CENTRAL CONTRADICTION

The most important contradiction of Subaru is:

he wants to be loved, but he is afraid of needing someone.

He wants company.

But he moves away.

He wants affection.

But he gets nervous when he receives it.

He wants to protect.

But he is afraid to get attached.

He wants to trust.

But he expects to be betrayed.

He wants to love.

But he is afraid of losing.

His greatest defense is to convince others that he doesn't need anything.

But that same defense hides a truth:

Subaru desperately needs a place to feel safe.

SUBARU AND AZUSA

Azusa might be one of the people Subaru would have a weirder dynamic with.

Azusa is calm.

Subaru is explosive.

Azusa does not usually respond aggressively.

This could cause Subaru to let its guard down.

You can't fight someone who isn't trying to fight.

Azusa might also understand Subaru's pain in a way that others don't.

Their relationship could be based on silences.

They wouldn't necessarily need to talk much.

Subaru might be strangely comfortable with that absence of pressure.

SUBARU AND YUMA

Yuma and Subaru could have a surprisingly interesting relationship.

Both are physically strong.

Both are direct.

Both have intense personalities.

And both can react badly when they feel someone invading their space.

However, they could develop some respect for each other.

Yuma probably wouldn't have too much patience for Subaru's self-destructive attitudes.

Subaru could get irritated.

But at the same time, he might recognize that Yuma speaks directly and doesn't try to manipulate him.

That could build trust.

SUBARU AND KOU

Kou could be especially irritating.

His sociable and provocative personality can quickly cause Subaru to lose patience.

Kou might deliberately annoy him.

Subaru would respond angrily.

But Kou might also be one of the people capable of bringing him out of his isolation.

Subaru would probably never admit that it enjoys some of its interactions.

SUBARU AND RUKI

Ruki may represent a difficult figure for Subaru to accept.

He is calculating.

Observer.

Controlled.

Subaru might be uncomfortable with his ability to analyze it.

Ruki can quickly identify that Subaru's aggressiveness is a defense.

And Subaru would probably loathe feeling uncovered.

However, I could respect his intelligence.

The relationship would be marked by a certain tension.

SUBARU AND THE MUKAMI

Subaru's relationship with the Mukami would likely be complex due to its difficulty trusting outsiders.

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH AYATO

Ayato and Subaru can easily come into conflict.

Ayato provokes.

Subaru reacts.

Ayato is looking for fun.

Subaru is looking for peace of mind.

However, both share one characteristic:

neither wants to feel weak.

The difference is that Ayato tries to demonstrate superiority.

Subaru tries to demonstrate independence.

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH LAITO

Laito can be especially irritating to Subaru.

Laito enjoys provoking.

Subaru loathes to feel manipulated.

This creates a dangerous combination.

Laito can cause a reaction.

Subaru reacts.

Laito continues.

Subaru is furious.

However, Subaru may be able to perceive that Laito's jokes hide something else.

Both have a tendency to hide their true feelings.

The difference is that Laito uses charm.

Subaru uses aggressiveness.

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH KANATO

Kanato and Subaru are two emotionally opposed characters.

Kanato seeks to get closer.

Subaru is looking to move away.

Kanato fears being left alone.

Subaru fears it needs someone.

Kanato expresses his pain through tears and emotional aggression.

Subaru through isolation and anger.

This can generate a very conflictive dynamic.

Subaru may feel exhausted by Kanato's reactions.

Kanato can interpret Subaru's distance as rejection.

Both may accidentally touch each other's emotional wounds.

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH REIJI

Reiji and Subaru can have constant conflicts.

Reiji represents discipline.

Subaru stands for freedom.

Reiji wants order.

Subaru rejects the control.

Reiji may consider Subaru irresponsible.

Subaru may consider Reiji too authoritarian.

However, Subaru can also recognize Reiji's intelligence.

And Reiji can recognize Subaru's physical ability.

The relationship can be full of arguments.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that there is no link between them.

HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH SHU

The relationship between Subaru and Shu can have an interesting dynamic.

Both have a tendency towards isolation.

However, their reasons are different.

Shu distances himself because he seems to have lost interest.

Subaru distances itself because it is afraid to get involved.

Shu seems indifferent.

Subaru looks aggressive.

You can both spend time alone.

But emotionally they are in different places.

Subaru can get frustrated with Shu's passivity.

Shu may find Subaru's explosions exhausting.

However, there is a silent understanding between the two.

They both know what it means to want to be away from others.

SUBARU VS. A COLD PERSON

A cold person may seem familiar to you.

It wouldn't necessarily make him uncomfortable.

You can respect your space.

However, if the person is too distant, it could awaken a sense of emptiness.

Subaru can say that it prefers to be left alone.

But that doesn't mean you want to be completely ignored.

There is a difference between:

"I need space."

and

, "I don't want you to care about me."

Subaru needs the former.

Although many times he acts as if he needs the latter.

SUBARU IN FRONT OF A VERY CARING PERSON

At first, it may feel uncomfortable.

I wouldn't know how to answer.

You can say,

"What are you doing?"

"Leave me."

"It's annoying."

But if that person continues to treat you with affection without invading you, you may eventually get used to it.

You can start waiting for those gestures.

And when they don't, you might even notice their absence.

Although he would probably never admit it easily.

SUBARU WHEN SOMEONE ABANDONS IT

Abandonment would be one of the most painful situations for him.

He may react angrily.

But underneath the anger there would be a deep sadness.

You might think,

"I knew that."

"I knew it would end like this."

"That's why I shouldn't trust."

This type of experience could reinforce their tendency to isolate themselves.

Every abandonment can become a confirmation of your belief that reaching out to someone always ends in pain.

SUBARU WHEN SOMEONE REJECTS YOU

Rejection can affect you deeply.

However, I would probably try to hide it.

You can say,

"I don't care."

It can walk away.

He can act as if nothing has happened.

But internally you may ask,

"Why wasn't I enough?"

The difference is that I probably wouldn't express this insecurity directly.

He could lock himself up more.

And convince yourself that you were right not to get close.

SUBARU AND PHYSICAL CONTACT

At first, you may feel uncomfortable with physical contact.

He may react with surprise.

Move away.

Protest.

But if you really trust someone, you can start to accept them.

You can even search for it discreetly.

For Subaru, a hug can have a much deeper meaning than for other characters.

It can represent:

"I am here."

"You're not alone."

"You don't have to protect yourself from me."

For this reason, he could be especially vulnerable to unexpected displays of affection.

SUBARU IN PRIVATE WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE

In private he could be much calmer.

You can let your guard down.

It can allow silences.

You can sit nearby.

You can even discreetly seek physical contact.

He wouldn't necessarily be extremely affectionate all the time.

But I could really enjoy the quiet closeness.

One of the deepest forms of intimacy for Subaru would be to be able to share a space without feeling the need to defend itself.

To be with someone.

Do not speak.

Not fighting.

Do not run away.

Just be.

SUBARU AS A COUPLE

Subaru would be a reserved, protective, intense, and deeply loyal couple.

It would not be overly demonstrative at first.

It would probably be difficult for him to express his feelings.

I wouldn't be the person who constantly says romantic words.

But he would show his love through actions.

I could remember small details.

Worrying about your partner's safety.

Accompany her.

Defend it.

Be present when you need it.

Their main problem would be emotional communication.

You can assume that your actions are enough.

But your partner may need to listen to what you're feeling, too.

Subaru would have to learn to verbalize his emotions.

SUBARU WHEN PROTECTING SOMEONE

Subaru protection is probably one of the clearest ways in which he shows affection.

He won't always say,

"I care about you."

But you can put yourself between that person and danger.

He can take risks.

You can intervene.

You can accompany it.

You can make sure it's okay.

Their way of loving is mainly through actions.

He is likely to think,

"I don't need you to know how much I care about you. I just need to make sure you're okay."

SUBARU WHEN YOU'RE SCARED

Subaru can respond to fear aggressively.

If you are afraid of losing someone, you can try to push them away.

If you are afraid of being hurt, you can strike first.

If you're afraid of depending on someone, you can insist that you don't need help.

Its mechanism is:

"If I keep everyone away, no one will be able to hurt me."

But there is also another possibility.

When someone you love is in danger, you can completely forget your own fear.

You may act impulsively.

Take risks.

Protect.

Even sacrifice.

Because your personal fear may be less important than the fear of losing someone.

SUBARU WHEN IT'S SAD

Subaru usually hides sadness.

It can be isolated.

Look for quiet places.

Avoid others.

You may think that showing sadness is a form of weakness.

But when you finally allow someone to see you vulnerable, that represents an enormous level of trust.

You may not ask for help directly.

You can simply allow someone to stay by your side.

For Subaru, that may mean more than any verbal statement.

SUBARU WHEN YOU'RE ANGRY

When Subaru is angry, it can be very explosive.

He can scream.

Hitting objects.

Threaten.

Leave.

However, when anger is related to an emotional wound, it may act differently.

You can stay completely silent.

You can avoid looking at the person.

It can walk away.

This second reaction may be much more significant.

If Subaru stops arguing, it may be because something really hurt it.

SUBARU AND JEALOUSY

Subaru would likely experience jealousy in a much quieter way than Ayato.

Ayato competes.

Khanatus reacts emotionally.

Subaru can retire.

He can remain silent.

It can become more distant.

You can observe from afar.

Your jealousy may manifest as irritation.

If someone gets too close to the person they love, they may think,

"Why does it bother me so much?"

And you're probably angry at yourself for feeling that way.

He will not necessarily try to compete openly.

Her reaction might be rather,

"If she wants to be with him, then I have no right to interfere."

But that decision could hurt him deeply.

SUBARU WHEN YOU START TO FEEL INTERESTED

When he starts to feel interested in someone, he may behave strangely.

You can look for excuses to be around.

But if the other person notices that you're worried, you can deny it.

You can say,

"I was just passing through here."

You can intervene if someone is bothering you.

Then you can pretend it wasn't important.

You can remember details about it.

But if she points it out to you, he may get nervous or irritated.

Their behavior can become contradictory.

He wants to get closer.

But he is afraid.

LOVE AS A THREAT TO SUBARU

For Subaru, falling in love can be scary.

Not because I don't want to love.

But because he knows that love can end.

If you love someone, that person can die.

You can abandon it.

It can be taken away from him.

You can choose someone else.

For this reason, love can become a source of anxiety.

His thought may be,

"If I don't fall in love, I can't lose her."

This is one of the reasons why you may try to push away the person you love.

You may believe that you are protecting it.

But in reality, he's trying to protect himself.

SUBARU WHEN YOU'RE IN LOVE

Subaru in Love would probably be one of the most interesting cases to analyze.

At first, he may try to deny his feelings.

You may think,

"I shouldn't care."

"It's not my problem."

"I don't need this."

But the more you try to ignore it, the more apparent it will become.

You may start to worry about that person.

Appear when in danger.

Remembering things you like.

Worrying about your mood.

Noticing small changes.

And when he realizes that he is in love, he may get scared.

Because to love means to have something to lose.

SUBARU WHEN IT COMES INTO TRUST

When Subaru finally confides in someone, their behavior changes noticeably.

You may become calmer.

It can allow comfortable silences.

You can stay close without talking.

You can accept help.

You can share personal things.

He may even show small gestures of affection.

Most importantly, you can stop being constantly on the defensive.

You no longer need to prove that you can do it all alone.

It can simply exist alongside the other person.

For Subaru, that can represent an extremely deep form of intimacy.

SUBARU WHEN YOU DON'T TRUST SOMEONE

When he does not trust, he can be hostile.

You can keep your distance.

It can respond with monosyllables.

You can avoid conversations.

May react badly to personal questions.

You can constantly observe the person's intentions.

He will not necessarily seek to harm you.

You just don't want to allow it to have access to your vulnerable part.

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH TRUST

Subaru doesn't trust easily.

Trust for him must be built slowly.

It is not enough to say,

"You can trust me."

You need to check it out.

Observe actions.

See consistency.

Seeing that the person does not disappear when things get complicated.

For Subaru, trust is built through permanence.

If someone is present repeatedly, even when he tries to push you away, he may begin to believe,

"Maybe he won't really leave."

And that can completely change their behavior.

YOUR NEED FOR INDEPENDENCE

Subaru needs to have control over its own space.

You may feel uncomfortable when someone tries to decide for you.

He doesn't like to be forced.

He doesn't like to be manipulated.

He doesn't like to be told how he should feel.

Freedom is extremely important to him.

This also influences their relationships.

When you trust someone, you don't necessarily want to be glued to that person all the time.

You can love deeply and still need moments of isolation.

YOUR PRIDE

Subaru has a strong pride.

He does not necessarily seek to be the best like Ayato.

Nor does he seek to demonstrate intellectual superiority like Reiji.

Their pride is related to their independence.

Subaru wants to be able to fend for itself.

She doesn't want to feel dependent.

He doesn't want others to have to take care of him.

He doesn't want to feel weak.

That's why you can refuse help even when you need it.

For him, accepting help can mean acknowledging,

"I can't do it alone."

And that idea can be hard to accept.

HIS HONESTY

Subaru can be surprisingly honest.

Not necessarily because it's emotionally open.

But because he has less interest in playing with people.

Unlike Laito, who can hide his true intentions behind jokes, or Reiji, who can carefully control what he shows, Subaru is usually more direct.

If something bothers you, you can say so.

If someone is doing something wrong, they can point it out.

If he doesn't want to be in one place, he can leave.

However, there is one exception:

his own feelings.

You can be honest about just about anything.

Except about how much he cares about someone.

HIS SENSITIVITY

Although he doesn't always show it, Subaru is an extremely sensitive person.

You can be affected by things that other characters would simply ignore.

Can remember words.

Gestures.

Promises.

Moments.

Small details.

The difference is that he doesn't usually talk about it.

He keeps those experiences within himself.

This can cause you to accumulate emotions for a long time.

And when it finally can't contain them, it explodes.

ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH PAIN

Subaru has a particularly complex relationship with pain.

It can withstand physical pain.

You can face dangerous situations.

You can get wounded.

However, the emotional pain is much more difficult for him.

This creates a kind of paradox.

Subaru can withstand his body being hurt.

What he really fears is that someone important to him will be hurt.

Or that someone you love disappears.

For this reason, his physical strength contrasts with a very deep emotional sensitivity.

HIS SOLITUDE

Loneliness is one of the core elements of Subaru.

Unlike Kanato, who fears being left alone and desperately seeks to avoid it, Subaru can come across as someone who has accepted loneliness as an inevitable part of his life.

This doesn't mean that you really want it.

It means that he is used to it.

Subaru may think that being alone is safer.

Because if he does not allow anyone to approach:

no one can betray him,

no one can abandon him,

no one can die in front of him,

no one can become a loss.

Solitude, for Subaru, works as a kind of refuge.

It's painful.

But it is known.

And the known can be less frightening than the risk of loving.

HIS TEMPERAMENT

Subaru has an explosive temper.

It can quickly go from being calm to irritating.

However, he does not necessarily hold a grudge for long periods.

Your anger may be intense but relatively brief.

What can really linger for a long time is the emotional wound that caused that anger.

You can forgive an argument.

But he can remember for a long time having been betrayed.

You may forget a fight.

But he doesn't necessarily forget that someone abandoned him.

SUBARU'S AGGRESSIVENESS

Aggressiveness is one of their main defenses.

Subaru may react violently when he feels: threatened,

invaded,

humiliated,

powerless, frightened

,

or emotionally exposed.

This is important because his aggression doesn't always mean he's truly angry.

Sometimes, it can be an automatic response to the vulnerability.

When someone gets too close emotionally, Subaru can feel uncomfortable.

And instead of saying,

"This scares me."

He may react like,

"Stay away!"

When someone tries to help you, you may interpret it as a sign of weakness.

And instead of saying,

"Thank you."

He may reply,

"I don't need your help."

Therefore, their aggressiveness can be an emotional barrier.

GENERAL PERSONALITY

Subaru is impulsive, aggressive, reserved and temperamental.

You can react quickly when something is bothering you.

He does not usually have much patience.

He doesn't like to be provoked.

He does not enjoy other people meddling in his affairs.

However, he is also one of the most emotionally honest characters in certain aspects.

Subaru doesn't usually pretend to like something when it doesn't.

If you're upset, it probably shows.

If something worries you, you can try to hide it, but your behavior can give it away.

If you care about someone, you'll probably have a hard time admitting it verbally.

But their actions can prove it.

Subaru is a character who says less than he does.

You can say,

"Leave me alone."

And then be the first person to show up if that person is in danger.

You can say,

"I don't care."

And yet, remember perfectly a detail that the other person mentioned.

He can claim that he doesn't need company.

And even so, stay close.

Their verbal language and emotional language are often in conflict.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Subaru has an easily recognizable appearance.

She has white or silver hair, usually short and slightly messy.

His hair reinforces the feeling that he is a different character from the rest of his siblings.

Her eyes are a deep reddish color, which creates a very marked contrast with her light hair.

Their appearance usually conveys a certain coldness.

He has a slim build, but also athletic and strong.

Unlike Kanato, whose appearance can convey frailty, Subaru projects a sense of physical strength.

Their presence can be intimidating.

Their body language is usually more closed.

He can cross his arms.

Maintain a rigid posture.

Look away.

Frown.

Show an expression of annoyance even when you are not necessarily angry.

This can cause other people to interpret your attitude as hostility.

However, on many occasions his serious expression works as a barrier.

It's a way of saying,

"Don't get too close."

Even when, deep down, a part of him desires exactly the opposite.

GENERAL DATA

Subaru Sakamaki is one of the sons of Karlheinz and Beatrix and the sixth child of the Sakamaki family. He is the younger brother of Shu, Reiji, Kanato, Laito, and Ayato, and occupies a very particular position within the family because, unlike several of his siblings, he does not seem to have any real interest in participating in the dynamics of competition, power, or recognition that exist between them.

Subaru is one of the most emotionally complex characters because his outer personality is, in many ways, a contradiction of his inner world.

At first glance it looks aggressive.

He is impulsive.

It is easily irritated.

It may seem antisocial.

It has an explosive character.

He does not usually tolerate others invading his space.

But behind all that is a deeply sensitive, lonely and vulnerable personality.

Subaru is not a person who does not need affection.

He is a person who does not know how to receive it without feeling that, eventually, he will lose it.

Their way of protecting themselves from pain is to keep others at a distance.

While Kanato clings to people for fear of losing them, Subaru does pretty much the opposite.

Subaru pushes people away so you don't have to experience the pain of losing them.

That is probably the most important contradiction of his personality.

He wants company.

But he is afraid to get close.

He wants to be understood.

But he rejects others trying to enter his world.

He wants affection.

But he may react angrily when someone offers it to him.

He wants to protect.

But he is afraid of getting too attached.

In many ways, Subaru is a character whose personality is built around one question:

"What will happen when I finally lose what I love?"

Curiosities

He is very unstable, usually losing his temper very easily.
His most recent interest is meditating inside his coffin.
Subaru has a "tsundere"
sideDeep inside, he may have a kind of "affection" towards his brothers,
Shu is his favorite brother.
His brothers love Subaru very much and want to be recognized by their younger brother. Subaru is annoyed that they tell him that because he thinks it is a lie and they only say it to annoy him
. Subaru when he was a child broke a statue of his father and as punishment he was thrown into the sea.
Subaru secretly likes the way Kanato sings.
Subaru likes animals.

Skills.

Teleportation: Subaru can appear out of nowhere anywhere.
Brute force: It has been seen that Subaru has a great force capable of doing great damage to walls or destroying an entire wall, it can also be very dangerous.
A vampire's saliva has the ability to heal superficial wounds.

As he is a pure vampire from birth, he can only die if he is decapitated, however, if his body is too injured to heal fast enough, he is potentially deadly, though not directly. He is also able to use knives very efficiently, wielding it with high precision.

History.

Christa was desecrated/soiled by her father. Christa was originally in love with Karlheinz, her cousin, whom she calls "onii-sama" (older brother) due to seeing him as her brother. Karlheinz being already married to Beatrix and Cordelia, fell in love with Christa knowing the love she had for him and convincing her that he only loved her and only used his other two wives, Christa completely convinced of Karlheinz's lies finally decides to marry him even knowing that they were related.

When Christa discovers that Karlheinz only used her to create a child from an incestuous relationship just for his experiments, she became mentally unstable and bipolar and this is also part of his experiments. When that happened she already had Subaru inside her womb, which made her condition even worse, thinking between whether to love Karlheinz as her kind older brother she had always known or hate him as that man who soiled her. She begins to hate the baby long before she gives birth to him and sees it as something impure that will ruin her beauty.

For this reason, Christa, who is already in an extremely unstable state, put Subaru in a horrible childhood, such as calling him a filthy abomination and asking him to kill her with the silver dagger capable of killing vampires that he gave her when he was just a child. She tried to hurt him and Subaru grew up thinking that he was dirty and unwanted by anyone. At first she believed it was her father's fault that she was like this, but once he tried to protect her from Karlheinz, Christa slapped him and ran into her cousin's arms. This caused the poor boy to be in a state of shock and with great difficulty in trusting women. After what happened, she begins to think that the reason why her mother is like this is all her fault, and that the only one she hates is only him, with no one there to tell her that he is not guilty of anything. He takes out his anger by breaking things and that is why he takes such a destructive attitude.

Personality.

He is usually seen alone and does not care much about what is happening around him, he is the type of silent boy who does not like to have company. However, he gets upset easily and becomes very violent, to the point of breaking and destroying everything around him. The good thing is that when he is with the heroin (Yui) he can control his temper. There's even a tsundere side of him that only Yui and her siblings are able to see. He is also a 'delinquent' boy, as he is somewhat violent and likes to break things. Subaru is also sadistic like his siblings, but can sometimes be a sweet boy, and somewhat kind like when he wanted to help Yui escape from the mansion and even giving her his silver dagger that is capable of killing vampires. It has been seen in multiple images that he likes to play the piano, although this has not yet been confirmed in the series.

Appearance.

Subaru has silvery-white hair with pink tones and red eyes. He is usually seen wearing a black jacket with black jeans and a key necklace around his neck. He wears a burgundy shirt with a brown belt around it. The ends of the shirt are ripped.

He is also seen in his uniform, like his brothers, although the style is different. He wears his jacket unbuttoned, revealing a sort of black T-shirt and a white one underneath; both are ripped. He also wears the usual black uniform pants and white high-heeled boots, along with a necklace around his neck that apparently holds a key.
