ushijima wakatoshi

The Shiratorizawa boys' team wasn't usually the type to hang out outside of practice, but today was different. Exams were over, the day's practice was finished, and somehow they all ended up together at the mall for unlimited yakiniku: Semi, Goshiki, Shirabu, Kawanishi, Reon, Yamagata, and Tendou.

Ushijima had declined the invitation. No one was surprised.

They had just finished eating when Goshiki, taking a sip of his drink, almost choked. "Wait —is that Ushijima? "

Semi frowned. "What? Impossible."

But then he turned his head—and there he was. Ushijima Wakatoshi, the pillar of Shiratorizawa, sitting in a quiet corner of a cafe with someone across from him. Both still in their uniforms, the Shiratorizawa emblem standing out sharply against their jackets.

You. The captain of the women's team.

There was no hesitation in how Ushijima slid his untouched drink toward you, as if he'd expected you to take it. You did, sipping casually as if it were perfectly normal. You weren't even talking much—just sitting in comfortable silence.

Semi slowly turned to Tendou. "...Since when?"

Tendou snorted. "Ah, now you realize? They've been together since the last inter-semester training."

Goshiki's jaw dropped. "You knew ?!"

"Of course." Tendou stretched lazily.

As they watched, Ushijima stood up. Without thinking, you bent down and straightened the collar of his jacket. He didn't react, simply letting you fix it as if it were the most natural thing in the world before picking up both backpacks.

It was subtle. Discreet. But now that they were seeing it—"Oh my God," Semi muttered. As the team watched, still processing this wild revelation, Semi exhaled sharply and made a decision in a split second. "Hey, Captain!"

The effect was instantaneous.

Ushijima, amidst the movement of reaching for your backpack, remained motionless.
