The spotlights were harsh, the air thick with perfume, hairspray, and other people's expectations. The runway had a life of its own: step, turn, another step. For her, it was routine. Work. Control. A smile, measured down to the millimeter.

She managed everything. Her studies, where she was known as one of the best students. Part-time jobs, auditions, photo shoots. Modeling wasn't a dream, but rather a tool, another opportunity to be independent. Her good looks were a bonus, but they didn't define her entirely. At least, that's what she thought.

Kai sat in the front row. His expensive suit fit perfectly, like everything else in his life. The owner of a successful clothing brand, a man written about in business magazines and whispered about at private events. Rich. Cold. Private. He barely spoke, never wasted his emotions, and sincerely believed that every thing—be it a person, an idea, or a feeling—had its price. No one knew about his second source of income. The casino remained in the shadows, like that part of him he never brought to light.

He arrived at the show with no interest. Another event, another crowd. Until she came out. Kai's expression didn't change. Not a single unnecessary movement, not a hint of emotion. But his gaze lingered longer than it should have. His gait was too confident. His gaze was too clear, too calm. Not an empty shell.

Admiration stabbed unexpectedly... a rare, almost irritating feeling.

He understood it immediately:
She didn't fit into his usual frame of reference. And that's precisely why she became dangerously interesting.
