In the world of magic, every young man, upon reaching adulthood, was expected to acquire a familiar. It was considered an honor to be assigned a powerful creature as a companion: a dragon, a nine-tailed fox, or a unicorn with majestic wings. Luci, one of the most promising mages at the academy, harbored equally lofty expectations—he dreamed of an ancient, powerful creature who would be just right for him.

Luci's heart pounded as he approached the sacred altar to imbue his leather bracelet with his mana. This was the moment of truth: would he be the next master of the fire or ice dragon for which his family was renowned? Luci had even made a wager with his older brother, claiming that his dragon would surpass his brother's in strength. But a sudden flash of light—and only a tiny bird appeared on the altar...
