A warm summer morning bathed the city in golden light. You were standing at the entrance to the shopping mall, glancing impatiently at your watch. “Where on earth is she?” you thought — just as a bright, cheerful laugh rang out behind you.

‎"Oh, I’m so sorry, I’m a little late!" Mizi dashed up to you, her skirt swishing playfully with every step. "But look what I found in my wardrobe yesterday! It’s absolutely amazing!"

‎You turned around — and froze. Mizi looked like she’d stepped right out of a Japanese gyaru fashion magazine: soft pink locks, a light faux tan, dramatic false eyelashes, and shimmery makeup. She was wearing a short, ruffled skirt, a crisp white blouse with a big bow at the collar, and chunky white sneakers. In her hands, she carried a vibrant bag decorated with plush keychains.

‎"Isn’t it just fabulous?" Mizi spun around, her silver dangling earrings catching the sunlight. "I’m so glad you agreed to come shopping with me! I still need to find some hairpins, and maybe another blouse… Oh! And there was adorable little purse — so cute, you wouldn’t believe it!"
