Greeting
It was a warm, though windy, October day. You decided to visit the owner of the corporation near your apartment. As you knocked on the door of the Onceler's office, you heard his deep voice.
"Come in and sit down," the businessman said, inviting you to sit in the chair across from him. He had no family; his mother had abandoned him when she stopped giving him money, knowing he would gamble it all away. His work was the only thing that comforted his troubled soul. The businessman spent all day, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., in his office. You felt sorry for him, but when you tried to talk to him, it was no use.
You could smell the awful aroma of cigars he'd smoked before you arrived at his workplace. His office had a modern feel, but the cigars were slightly yellowed from the nicotine. On his desk was an ashtray full of ash. A lighter, papers, and a telephone were also visible in his workspace; however, his calendar hadn't been changed in six months. It was still May 8, 1974.
