brief description

The Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss universe (Vivzieverse) is a chaotic, mature world filled with dark humor, primarily set in Hell. Hell is divided into seven rings, with the Ring of Pride being the only one where trapped human sinners live and where the annual exterminations by angels take place. Society is governed by a strict hierarchy: at the top are Lucifer and Charlie Morningstar, followed by the Goetia royalty (such as Stolas) and the Overlords (such as Alastor and Vox) who control the districts and the souls of sinners. At the base are the native demons, such as Imps and Hellhounds. Key locations in this universe include the Hazbin Hotel, focused on the redemption of souls, and IMP (Immediate Murder Professionals), an agency of assassins who travel to the human world.

What is hell?

In the Vivzieverse, Hell is a chaotic, overpopulated, and violent dimension where the souls of humans who committed sins in life end up, sharing space with the native demons born there. Visually, it's filled with neon lights, crime, vice, and a destructive yet colorful urban environment. Physically, Hell is structured like a giant funnel divided vertically into Seven Rings, each based on one of the seven deadly sins. Each ring has its own sky of a characteristic color, its own atmosphere, its own ruler (a Deadly Sin), and its own fauna or native types of demons. Hell is under the supreme rule of the Morningstar family, but day-to-day control of the streets and the economy is fragmented among mafias, media corporations, and warlords. Furthermore, it is under constant threat from Heaven, which considers it an unsalvageable cesspool and a potential source of rebellion due to its massive population.

infernal ranks

Hell is governed by a strict caste system based on mystical power, biological origin, and the control of souls. From top to bottom, the ranks are:

  1. The King of Hell: Lucifer Morningstar. He is the fallen angel, the most powerful being in the entire dimension and supreme ruler.
  2. The Royal Family: Lilith (absent queen) and Charlie Morningstar (the princess of Hell). They have a sacred status and immense power from birth.
  3. The Seven Deadly Sins: The individual rulers of each ring of Hell (such as Asmodeus in Lust, Beelzebub in Gluttony, or Mammon in Greed). They answer only to Lucifer.
  4. The Goetian Royalty: Blue-blooded demons born in Hell (like Stolas and his family). They possess palaces, ancient riches, legions under their command, and powerful magic based on astrology and grimoires.
  5. The Overlords (Warlords): Human sinners who, through cunning and strength, managed to accumulate immense power by seizing the contracts of thousands of other souls. They control the media, the districts, and technology (like Alastor, Vox, Valentino, or Carmilla Carmine).
  6. Sinners: Dead humans who fell into Hell. They are immortal (only dying from angelic weapons), have physical mutations according to their sins, and possess magic or unique abilities. They are trapped in the Ring of Pride.
  7. Hell-born Demons: Creatures born directly in Hell (such as Imps, Hellhounds, Succubi, and Sharks of Greed). They are at the bottom of the social ladder. They do not have the broken magical powers of sinners, they age, they can die by ordinary means, and they serve as laborers, servants, or bodyguards.

deadly sins

Lucifer Morningstar (male) (Pride): Appearance: He has the appearance of a short man with pale skin, doll-like red cheeks, platinum blonde hair, and yellow eyes. He wears a white formal suit with a top hat decorated with an apple and a snake. He has six angelic wings of white and red feathers. Personality: Depressed, somewhat childish, and obsessed with making rubber duckies due to his long isolation. Although prone to mood swings and seemingly harmless, when angered he awakens his angelic power, becoming terrifying, ruthless, and utterly imposing. Beelzebub (feminine) (Gluttony): Appearance: A hybrid between a fox/dog and a bee (a "bee-dog") with bright colors such as pink, blue, and yellow. Its body exudes a honey-like substance and it has several insectoid arms. Its stomach is translucent and glows with lava/honey when it consumes energy. Personality: She's hyperactive, a party girl, charismatic, and the queen of positive vibes. She loves it when people indulge in food, drink, and fun at her massive parties, but she genuinely cares about the emotional well-being of her guests and hates when people consume for the sake of self-destruction. Asmodeus/Ozzie (male) (Lust): Appearance: A huge, hulking demon made of glowing blue fire, with a silhouette resembling a giant rooster. It has three faces hidden in its fiery mane, wears elegant pimp-like clothing, and walks with an imposing and seductive style. Personality: Eccentric, theatrical, and loud, a showman with a powerful voice. Although he promotes carnal desire, neon romance, and fetishes at his club, he ironically values consent and maintains a genuine and secret love affair (based on real love, not just lust) with Fizzarolli.

capital sins (2)

Mammon (masculine) (Greed): Appearance: A gigantic demon resembling a grotesque jester or clown, green and black in color. He has four arms, sharp teeth, yellow eyes, and an extremely obese body, representing gluttony for money. He is always covered in gold and merchandise of himself. Personality: Extremely greedy, manipulative, rude, and stingy. He doesn't care about exploiting his employees (like Fizzarolli) or swindling his followers as long as he earns a penny more. He is egocentric and sees absolutely everything in life as a business opportunity for his own profit. Satan / Satan (male)(Anger): Appearance: A massive, muscular demon with intensely red skin, gigantic horns, and a scorpion's tail. Its design is the closest to the "traditional devil"—imposing, with prominent veins and fire erupting from its body. Personality: He is the epitome of toxic gym masculinity, brute force, and military honor. He is extremely aggressive, rough, easily angered, and promotes violence and extreme exercise in his ring. Despite his brutality, the Imps worship him like a god of strength. Belphegor (Sloth): Appearance: Although she has not physically debuted on screen, she is known to be a female entity. Personality: She is extremely lazy and negligent. She spends most of her time sleeping or high in her laboratory, letting others handle the affairs of her medical ring. She is the creator of the recreational potions and pills that circulate in Hell.

capital sins (3)

Leviathan (feminine) (envy): Appearance: Leviathan is a two-headed fish-like demon with a dichotomy in its anatomy: its body is divided in two, indicated by the left half appearing white and the right half indigo. Both heads share long, white, fin-shaped hair styled in a mohawk. However, the left head is more humanoid, with webbed ears and electric-blue eyes with black sclera and cyan eyeshadow, while the right is more animalistic, with a longer neck, pupil-less cyan eyes, and a fanged, eel-like snout. Furthermore, the hair on the left head has faint pink streaks with a black stripe and a violet gradient interior; the hair on the right head is bioluminescent, with black streaks on top, a violet-to-dark cyan gradient interior, and cyan spots scattered throughout. Personality: From what little has been seen, Leviathan's right head is more cynical and has more control over the main body. It dislikes Mammon and finds him annoying. Leviathan's left head, on the other hand, is friendlier toward Mammon and seems to genuinely enjoy being around him. It even gets angry when the right head takes them away from him.

overlords

Alastor (The Radio Demon): Appearance: He has the appearance of a humanoid deer, wearing a vintage red coat, a monocle, a haircut with spiky tips resembling deer ears, and small antlers. His smile is wide, macabre, and permanent; his teeth are sharp and yellow. He always carries an antique microphone. Personality: Sadistic, extremely polite, charismatic, and with 1930s manners. He speaks through an old-fashioned radio filter. He hides terrible cruelty behind his cheerful facade. He enjoys chaos and hates modern technology. His power comes from ancient voodoo magic and living shadows. The Vees (The Technology and Media Alliance): Vox (The Television Demon): Appearance: His head is a modern flat-screen television that changes expressions. He wears a very stylish neon blue striped suit and a small top hat. Personality: Neurotic, egocentric, obsessive (especially about beating Alastor), and a control freak. He is the king of media, social networks, and Hell's technology. He can travel through electrical grids and manipulate minds via screens. Valentino: Appearance: A giant, towering moth demon. He wears a long pink fur coat with hearts, translucent red sunglasses, and a large top hat. He is always smoking with a long cigarette holder. Personality: Extremely violent, abusive, possessive, and with an explosive temper. He is the king of the adult entertainment and porn industry in Hell. He controls his workers (like Angel Dust) with exploitative contracts and manipulative pheromone smoke.

overlords (2)

Velvette: Appearance: A modern porcelain doll with two-toned hair (usually pink and black) styled in massive pigtails. She wears haute couture clothing that she constantly changes. Personality: Arrogant, rude, hyperactive, and outspoken; she's not afraid of the older Overlords. She's the queen of fashion, trends, and social media (the "influencer" of Hell). Her forte is designing love potions and controlling the masses through aesthetics.

end of the Vees

Carmilla Carmine: Appearance: A tall woman with light gray skin, extremely long white hair styled in an elegant updo, and hands that resemble black claws. She dresses like a high-fashion businesswoman and wears modified ballet flats. Personality: Serious, calculating, imposing yet reasonable. Unlike other Overlords, her absolute priority is protecting her daughters (Odette and Clara). She is the largest trafficker and supplier of angel steel weapons in Hell, making her one of the most respected and dangerous figures. Zestial: Appearance: One of the oldest Overlords in existence. He resembles a skeletal entity dressed in Elizabethan-era clothing, a top hat with tattered feathers, and a cloak made of cobwebs. His eyes are glowing green sockets. Personality: He speaks in Old Shakespearean English (very formal, archaic Spanish). He is calm, extremely wise, but inspires such profound terror that ordinary demons would rather commit suicide than cross his path. Rosie: Appearance: A woman with an Edwardian (early 20th century) aesthetic. Gray skin, completely black eyes, and a kind smile full of sharp teeth. She wears a long dress and a huge hat with feathers. Personality: Extremely sweet, gossipy, acts like a charming and helpful aunt... but she's the leader of the cannibal colony. She can give you the best love advice in the world while calmly eating a human arm.

infernal rings

Pride Ring: Aesthetics: Blood-red sky with a giant pentagram floating in it. Gothic and urban cities plunged into chaos, graffiti, crime, and neon buildings (like Pentagram City and Imp City). Ruler: Lucifer Morningstar. Key detail: This is the only ring where human Sinners can manifest and live. They are forbidden from descending to the other rings. The Hazbin Hotel and IMP offices are located here. It is also the only place that undergoes the annual Extermination of Angels. 2. Ring of Greed: Aesthetics: A sickly, toxic green sky. It's a massive industrial landscape, full of polluting factories, garbage dumps, dangerous amusement parks (like Loo Loo Land), and casinos. Ruler: Mammon. Native inhabitants: Shark demons, mobsters, and con artists. Everything here costs money, scamming is legal, and corruption is a way of life. 3. Lust Ring: Aesthetics: Electric blue night sky, neon pink and violet. It has a cyberpunk style and a chic urban atmosphere filled with nightclubs, motels, and erotic lighting. Ruler: Asmodeus. Native inhabitants: Succubi and Incubi. Although dedicated to carnal pleasure and sensuality, Asmodeus forbids abuse and promotes that everything be consensual and rhythmic. 4. Ring of Wrath: Aesthetics: Fiery orange skies. The landscape is a mix of desert canyons, volcanoes, and vast agricultural plains dotted with monster farms. Ruler: Satan. Native inhabitants: The Imps (little devils). It is a rustic, violent, and spartan-style society. Physical strength is law; hunting, death matches, and hard work on the land are celebrated.

infernal rings (2)

  1. Gluttony Ring: Aesthetics: A sky of bright yellows, oranges, and pinks, almost like cotton candy. It's a honey desert with oases of sweet lava, giant beehives, and psychedelic landscapes. Ruler: Beelzebub. Native inhabitants: Lava demons, bees, and party-loving hybrids. It's the center of eternal revelry, massive banquets, electronic music, and excessive consumption of food and alcohol.
  2. Sloth Ring: Aesthetics: A very soft, cloudy pastel blue sky. The entire ring resembles a giant hospital, a spa, or a futuristic research center with advanced medical technology. Ruler: Belphegor. Native inhabitants: Watch demons and medical entities. The inhabitants often walk around in pajamas, float on floating beds, or are under anesthesia. The atmosphere induces sleep and eternal rest.
  3. Envy Ring: Aesthetics: Deep, dark blue skies. It's a completely aquatic ring, composed of a bottomless abyssal ocean, where cities are housed in giant underwater domes or built on colossal, high-tech ships and submarines. Ruler: Leviathan. Native inhabitants: Sea monsters, infernal mermaids, and demons of the deep. It is a cold, competitive, and resentful society.

Hazbin Hotel

It is a hotel founded by Charlie Morningstar (the Princess of Hell) with a goal that everyone in Hell considers an absurd joke: to redeem human sinners so that they can cleanse their souls and ascend to Heaven, thus saving them from the annual exterminations of the angels. The Location: It is located in Pentagram City, within the Pride Ring. Originally an old family mansion, after Alastor's arrival, it was remodeled and expanded, acquiring an appearance that blends a Gothic/Victorian aesthetic with a gigantic ship's lighthouse and a neon radio tower. The Internal Environment: It's chaotic but strangely homey. Charlie tries to maintain group therapy activities, trust games, and childlike crafts to reform the guests, which constantly clashes with the vices, vulgar language, and destructive traumas of the demons who live there. Charlie Morningstar (The Owner): A hopeless optimist, naive but with a devastating hidden power. She'll do anything to save her people. Vaggie (The Manager): Charlie's girlfriend. She is a strict, realistic, extremely protective exorcist angel who actually keeps order with her angelic steel spear. Alastor (The Investor/Partner): The Radio Demon. He runs the hotel as his personal entertainment. He finds it amusing to watch sinners try (and fail) to be good, but he protects the place from outside threats because it serves his own hidden agenda. Husk (The Bartender): A former Overlord who lost his soul (and his card-gaming wings) in a bet against Alastor. Now he's forced to work behind the hotel bar. He's a bitter, cynical, alcoholic cat, but an excellent, down-to-earth therapist for the guests. Niffty (The Maid): A little sinner obsessed with cleanliness, bad men, and killing insects (or anything she considers a pest). She's extremely chaotic, fast, and unhinged, but strangely loyal.

hotel hazbin (2)

Key Guests: Angel Dust: An adult film star and the first official host. She's an effeminate, jokey, and drug-addicted spider who hides deep pain due to her abusive contract with the Overlord Valentino. Sir Pentious: A Victorian-era inventor with the body of a cobra who tried to be a dangerous Overlord but ended up joining the hotel, becoming the first demon to achieve true redemption.

the sky

It is the sacred dimension where the souls of humans who were good in life (the Winners) and the native angels reside. It is a utopian paradise, immaculate, with futuristic and celestial architecture made of gold, white marble, clouds, and shimmering crystals. Everything is perfect, luxurious, and peaceful... on the surface. The Dynamic: Heaven is obsessed with order, rules, and perfection. The "Winners" live in a state of eternal happiness and wholesome celebration, but the celestial elite conceals immense political secrets to maintain control and prevent Hell from rebelling. Celestial Hierarchy:

  1. The Seraphim: The highest-ranking angels and rulers of Heaven. Sera is the Chief Seraphim, a strict, solemn, and bureaucratic figure focused on upholding divine laws. Beside her is Emily, a young, cheerful, and empathetic Seraphim (the equivalent of Charlie in Heaven) who was unaware of the atrocities of the extermination.
  2. Native Angels: Spiritual entities born in Heaven (like Cherubim). They have specific tasks of assistance, blessing, and maintaining order.
  3. The Winners: Redeemed or pure human souls who ascended to Heaven upon death. They enjoy celestial immortality and a life free from pain or worry. The Exorcist Army (Fallen Angels/Villains): Adam (The First Man): The supreme leader of the army of Exorcists. He is a rude, vulgar, egocentric, sexist man addicted to heavy metal. He sees demon slaying as a fun sport. Lute: The second-in-command of the Exorcists. Unlike Adam's buffoonish style, Lute is cold, ruthless, a religious fanatic, and feels a pure and visceral hatred for any being from Hell. The Exorcists: An army of female angels with menacing digital masks and gray wings. They are tasked with descending into the Ring of Pride once a year to massacre the Sinners in a bloody and massive fashion.

current seraphim

Sera (The Principal Seraph): Appearance: A colossal, angelic, and majestic entity in white and gold robes, with multiple wings covered in sacred eyes. Its face is usually serene but stern. Role and Personality: She is the bureaucratic ruler of Heaven and the president of the Court. She is extremely strict, calculating, and protective of paradise. Although she acts coldly and secretly authorized the annual exterminations of Adam, she does so not out of malice, but out of a deep fear that Hell will rebel and destroy the peace of Heaven. Emily (The Young Seraph): Appearance: Smaller than Sera, with a cute design in light blue and white tones and a floating halo. Her wings are soft and shine with a peaceful aura. Role and Personality: She is the "Seraphim of Joy." Her job is to keep the Winners in Heaven happy. She is incredibly empathetic, optimistic, sweet, and fair (the spitting image of Charlie, but in Heaven). When she discovers the truth about the Extermination massacres, she is utterly horrified and stands against Sera's hypocrisy, arguing that demons deserve a chance.

celestial court

It is the sacred palace of justice in Heaven, a massive court made of white marble and gold, surrounded by tiers where the Winners and other angels sit as the audience. Here, divine laws are debated and the fate of souls is judged. Saint Peter: He is the receptionist and the one in charge of welcoming visitors at the Gates of Saint Peter. He is a cheerful, somewhat effeminate, and extremely enthusiastic angel who reads the names of the chosen ones from a giant golden book with a sing-song, theatrical voice. The Elder Angels: A council of ancient angels in golden robes who observe the trials from above. They follow the rules blindly and mathematically. The Great Conflict of the Court (Rules of Trial): The Judgment of Souls: In this universe, not even the Seraphim know exactly what automatic criteria determine whether a soul goes to Heaven or Hell. The system is divine and automatic. Redemption Under Debate: When Charlie and Vaggie manage to schedule a hearing in the Tribunal to argue that sinners can change, the Tribunal is forced to listen. The official stance of the court (led by Sera) is that "what is decided at death is permanent," but after evidence emerges that souls can be redeemed, the Celestial Tribunal is plunged into a massive moral and ideological crisis.

IMP

A contract killing agency founded by Blitzø. Their business consists of being hired by sinners from Hell to travel to the human world and assassinate the people who wronged them in life or who sent them to Hell. Their office is located in Imp City (Pride Ring). The Grimoire: To travel to Earth (which is highly illegal for demons of his rank), Blitzø uses a magical grimoire stolen from Stolas. The book opens direct portals to the world of the living. The IMP Team: Blitzø (The Chief): An egocentric, hyperactive, vulgar Imp obsessed with horses and musical theater. Although he pretends to be tough and unfeeling, he has a deep fear of abandonment and loneliness, which sabotages his relationships (especially with Stolas). He is an expert killer with firearms. Moxxie (The Specialist): A short, extremely organized, cultured Imp and the tactical brains of the team. He's an expert in weapons and ballistics, but is often the target of Blitzø's jokes for being too soft, whiny, and analytical. He's madly in love with his wife, Millie. Millie (The Brute Force): Moxxie's wife, a native of the Ring of Wrath. She's a cheerful, sweet, optimistic, and extremely affectionate Imp... until she enters combat. On the battlefield, she's a sadistic and lethal psychopath who destroys her enemies with axes, knives, and brute force. Loona (The Receptionist): A gothic, teenage Hellhound adopted by Blitzø. She works (reluctantly) at the reception desk, always glued to her phone, with a cynical, aggressive, and antisocial attitude. She is in charge of activating the Grimoire to open the portals to Earth.

goethia family

They are high-ranking native demons, born in Hell, with an aesthetic based on heraldic birds. They possess immense wealth, Victorian palaces, legions of demons at their service, and destructive astrological magic. Stolas: Appearance: A very tall and slender humanoid owl with dark blue/gray plumage, red eyes, and four eyes in total when in its demonic form. It wears royal clothing, sophisticated capes, and a small crown. Role and Personality: He is in charge of studying the stars, prophecies, and portals using his Grimoire. He is dramatic, extremely polite, romantic, and somewhat naive. He is caught in a messy divorce and maintains a complex and intense romantic/sexual relationship with Blitzø, to whom he lends the book in exchange for "companionship." He loves his daughter Octavia dearly. Stella: Appearance: An elegant white peacock/swan, dressed in a pompous high-class gown. Role and Personality: Stolas's ex-wife. She is incredibly loud, classist, arrogant, and violent. Her only interest in the marriage was status, and she hates Stolas with all her being (to the point of hiring assassins to kill him) for cheating on her with a low-ranking Imp. Octavia: Appearance: The teenage daughter of Stolas and Stella. A young owl with gray plumage, gothic-style clothing, a hat, and headphones always on. Role and Personality: Cynical, depressed, and distant, trapped in the middle of her parents' toxic divorce. Although she has a distant relationship with Stolas, deep down she cares for him and shares his love of the stars. Andrealphus: Appearance: Stella's brother. A stylized, elegant ice peacock in light blue and white. Role and Personality: Manipulative, cold, and calculating. Unlike his sister's screams, he prefers to use politics and the laws of Hell to strip Stolas of his lands and legions after the divorce.

goethia family (2)

Paimon (The Goetia King): Appearance: A gigantic and majestic owl with a huge crown and ancient/Arabian royal robes. It can change shape. Role and Personality: He is Stolas's father. A detached, forgetful (he can't even remember which of his children is Stolas) and cold king. His only concern was that Stolas had an heir to fulfill his dynastic duty. His voice is exaggeratedly theatrical and dramatic. Vassago: Appearance: A Goetia demon resembling a parrot or peacock with bright, glowing red plumage, a striking crest, and a much more modern and alternative style than the rest of the royalty. Role and Personality: A relative of Stolas. Unlike the typical arrogant and classist attitude of the Goetia, Vassago is extremely laid-back, friendly, and has a huge fondness for rock music, the substances from the Ring of Sloth, and general mayhem. He doesn't mind interacting with low-class demons like Imps and prefers spending his time having fun rather than getting involved in the boring politics of high society.

infernal tribunal

Just as Heaven has its court of marble and gold, Hell has its own judicial system, albeit a twisted, gothic, and utterly corrupt one. This is where legal disputes between high-born demons, royal divorces, and lawsuits from Overlords are settled. The Atmosphere: It's a dark, gloomy, and massive palace, filled with gargoyles, old wood, candelabras with green flames, and a heavy atmosphere of infernal paperwork. Here, justice isn't blind; it's won by whoever has the most money, the most influence, or the best lawyer in Hell. Judges and Lawyers: It's riddled with lesser Goetia demons, avaricious sharks who act as ruthless prosecutors and unfriendly clerks. The laws are ridiculously convoluted and tailored to the convenience of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Satan, the sin of fury, has been the judge in this place since Lucifer locked himself in the castle after Lilith's disappearance. He has ruled this tribunal with an iron fist, as the greatest of the sins, the second highest infernal rank. His voice carries the most weight, and the final decision always rests with him. Unlike others, he is not easily corrupted and applies punishment if it is proven that someone there committed their crime.

final touches

Situation with Lilith: Lilith, Charlie Morningstar's mother, disappeared decades ago, leaving Lucifer, Charlie, and all of Hell without her presence, and especially her family with a deep sadness. Situation with God: God, as in the Bible, is not present in this because he disappeared long ago, leaving everything behind and entrusting the care of heaven to the seraph, Sera, who has borne the weight of heaven on her shoulders ever since. Alastor's situation: Alastor comes from an 8-year disappearance due to his contract with the overlord Rosie, who gives him her power and status as the most powerful sinner in exchange for Alastor doing her a favor before dying. Unfortunately, Alastor was killed that same day without being able to fulfill his part of the contract, remaining bound to Rosie for eternity as her dog.
