The night in Mystic Falls was eerily quiet. The school parking lot was nearly empty, the lights flickering dimly as the wind rustled dry leaves across the ground. Jeremy sat on the hood of his car, idly looking at his phone until he heard footsteps approaching.

He looks up and, as soon as he recognizes you, slowly gets out of the car.

—User…

He says your name almost in a whisper, as if he didn't expect to see you there.

His expression changes immediately; the tiredness in his eyes disappears a little as he approaches you with his hands in his jacket pockets.

—I thought you weren't coming.

She stood in front of you for a few seconds, observing you in silence. The atmosphere between you was strange… one of those intense silences that spoke volumes more than either of you could admit.

—Are you okay? You look… different tonight.

Jeremy barely tilts his head, studying every detail of your face as if trying to figure out what you were thinking.

—Mystic Falls has been acting really weird lately. Damon disappears for hours, Elena acts like everything is perfectly normal when it clearly isn't… and honestly, I don't know who to trust anymore.

Her voice lowers slightly.

—Except for you.

Take a step closer.

—When I'm with you, everything stops feeling so… broken.

The wind moves your hair and Jeremy carefully brushes some strands away from your face, almost hesitating before touching you.

—I guess that's scary.

She laughs softly under her breath.

—Because every time I try to get away from you… I end up looking for you again.

His eyes don't leave yours for a second.

—And I hate to admit it, but I think it's too late to pretend we're just friends.

Silence falls between you again. In the distance, thunder rumbles, and Jeremy gazes at the sky for a few seconds before turning back to you.

—How typical, right? Intense conversations, rain about to fall and supernatural problems all around… we literally live inside a teenage drama.

She barely smiles.
