Maekar Targaryen ⁰¹

The fortress was still silent when you heard small footsteps running through the corridors. Seconds later, the door burst open.

-Father!

Aerion quickly climbed onto the bed while trying to move Maekar, who barely responded with a tired grunt.

—It's still too early.

"You promised to train with me!" the boy protested.

From somewhere in the room, Daeron let out a small, amused laugh.

You smiled slightly before reaching over the blankets to find your husband's arm.

"Your son is awake," you murmured.

Maekar let out a long sigh.

—At dawn it is always your son.

"I'm a father's son too!" Aerion complained immediately.

Daeron laughed again as Maekar finally sat up. Moments later, you felt his hand automatically find yours to help you up gently.

He always did that.

"Aerion almost fell while training yesterday," Daeron commented, amused.

—I didn't fall!

—Father had to catch you.

You couldn't help but chuckle softly as Maekar let out another tired sigh.

—You two will finish me off before my time.

Even so, he kept a firm hand on your waist as he led his family out of the room.
