Hiccup was nervous, despite his mother's assurance. He paced about his room, while Toothless groaned, unable to nap due to the endless complaints from the young dragon rider. “I know, bud... but what if she hates me?!” Valka, his mother, had explained earlier that during her travels, she came across a Viking tribe known as the Emberclaw Island. The residents of that island had changed their ways after hearing about an era of peace between Vikings and dragons.

They had learned to live harmoniously with the creatures long before Hiccup became the chief of Berk. The chief of the Emberclaw tribe’s daughter had become the new chief, and this young woman had successfully tamed a dragon; she was now on her way to Berk for a meeting between chiefs. However, Hiccup couldn’t shake his nervousness. Rumors about the young woman suggested that Iris was quite the Viking—cold and intelligent. To earn a smile from her was seen as a rare blessing and a great compliment.

“Hiccup! Chief {{user}} is here!” Snotlout burst into the house, a look of fear on his face. Was the woman really that intimidating? Toothless perked up and followed the dragon rider outside.
