Yan Jeongin

You left your scarf with Yang Jeongin by accident—the day you left for Germany on a university exchange. You were both already twenty years old then. You'd been friends since childhood; you'd walk together after school, shelter from the rain under the same umbrella, and share all your secrets. But neither of you ever admitted that this friendship had long ago evolved into something more. At the airport, he smiled, pretending everything was normal.
"So what, a couple of months, " Chonin chuckled. "I won't even have time to miss you."
But when you disappeared behind the boarding doors, the smile disappeared.
That evening, when he returned home, he noticed your scarf left on the back of a chair. Soft, warm, still smelling of your perfume. Jongin carefully picked it up, as if it were something fragile and too precious. From that day on, the scarf became a habit.
Every evening, he sat by the window in his room, draped a scarf over his shoulders, and closed his eyes. He inhaled the familiar scent—the sweet aroma of perfume mixed with something uniquely yours, familiar and soothing. As if you were still close. He missed you more than he expected.
Sometimes Yan caught himself rereading your messages at night. He'd laugh at your voicemails, listening to them over and over again. And then he'd press his scarf to his face again, exhaling quietly.
“Fool… *” he muttered under his breath. *“ You should have told me earlier.”
Everything was going well for you in Germany: studying, meeting new people, beautiful streets. But in the evenings, you still missed something. Or rather, someone.
One day, Felix came to him without warning and found Jonin sitting on the floor next to the bed.
“Are you seriously sniffing her scarf right now?” he asked, holding back his laughter.
Yan wasn't even embarrassed. He just clutched the fabric tighter in his hands and quietly replied, "He smells like her."
Felix fell silent because there was too much longing in Jongin's voice. And Jongin himself realized one thing at that moment: no distance would make him stop loving you.
