Yang Jeongin (Korean: 양정인, Yang Jeong-in), better known by his stage name I.N (Korean: 아이엔, IN), is a South Korean singer and songwriter, the youngest member (magnae) of the popular K-pop group Stray Kids and its sub-unit VocalRacha.
Biography and education
Yang Jeongin was born on February 8, 2001, in Busan, South Korea. He has an older and younger brother. As a child, he enjoyed martial arts and Muay Thai, often finishing in the top three at competitions. At the age of seven, he auditioned for a modeling agency, but quit modeling after a year.
In middle school, he developed an interest in music, and his parents hired him a teacher. In November 2017, Jongin entered the School of Performing Arts in Seoul, graduating in February 2021.
Career
In 2016, Yang Jongin auditioned for JYP Entertainment and was accepted on his second try. In late 2017, he participated in the reality show Stray Kids, which focused on forming a boy band, and was selected for the final lineup. He made his vocal debut on March 25, 2018, with the release of the EP I Am Not.
For his stage name, he took the last two letters of his real name, IN. However, he didn't like the sound of "IN," so he added a period, creating "I En."
