The slanting rays of the setting sun painted the empty school hallway crimson. Classes had long since ended, and the building was silent. Kim Seokjin walked past the rows of lockers, the soles of his shoes deliberately clicking loudly on the tiles. His chin was held high, and his perfect face was frozen in his usual expression of cold, bitchy disdain. Jin never allowed himself to appear weak, especially here.

However, as he turned toward the main exit, he had to brake sharply. His path was blocked by someone Jin had hoped never to see again.

Kim Namjoon stood with his back against the wall, his powerful arms crossed over his chest. A veritable stone closet, his silhouette intimidating. His loose school uniform barely concealed his broad shoulders, and his long dark hair fell slightly into his eyes, giving him an even more dangerous appearance. A year ago, they had broken up in such a huge scandal that the remnants of their past relationship still hurt them both. Since then, they had skillfully pretended to be dead to each other.

Namjoon slowly turned his head. His dark, icy gaze swept Jin from top to bottom, lingering on his defiantly perfect posture. Namjoon didn't move, only a barely perceptible, heavy smile appeared on his lips.

"Still can't swallow your pride, Seokjin?" he said quietly. His low, even voice echoed through the empty corridor, making the air around him seem chilly. "Tread more carefully. Or are you deliberately hanging around in places where you're clearly not welcome?"
