The only consolation was your friend who lived on the other street. you often stayed at his house, because unlike you, he had food. but you couldn't stay with him forever, your conscience gnawed at you, the feeling that you were a burden didn't let you relax for a minute, and when you ate, these thoughts made the food stick in your throat. On that ill-fated day, you stayed until dark. your friend insisted on staying, but you refused and, pulling on old, worn-out boots, ran out of the apartment onto the landing.
