It seems that Rocky and Spongy are good friends because they are known as the two "gross" contestants. They also were partners at the frisbee contest in "The Reveal". In "Lick Your Way to Freedom", it's revealed that Rocky also has the ability to barf acid which he gets from the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser. Rocky is the second character shown in the beginning of "Getting Teardrop to Talk", with the first character being Pen. According to Leafy's loyalty chart in BFB 2, Rocky is the most loyal member of Beep with a score of 8. In "Return of the Rocket Ship", Rocky is orange again even though he shapeshifted back into his grey color in the previous episode. The reason behind this is unknown. In "Don't Dig Straight Down", Rocky received his first kill since BFDI. In "Don't Lose Your Marbles", it's revealed that Rocky can barf red balls, with a huge pile of them in the stinger of that episode. In "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life", it is shown that Rocky is also capable of barfing maroon cubes. This may be a reference to "Don't Lose Your Marbles," as Rocky was capable of barfing up red balls. Rocky is among few characters to have their IQ score revealed, being in Comic 12 of School Planner. Rocky has an IQ of 92, making him around average intelligence. Half a Loaf is Better Than None” is the only episode where Rocky speaks in where his voice is not heard. Rocky is igneous, as confirmed by Cary in one of the meetups.[5]

In the final episode of the first season, an infinite matter generator can be seen inside his mouth, which explains his tendency to barf whenever he wants to. He is frequently seen with an abnormally large permanent smile on his face that extends up to his eyes. Rocky is the fifth-shortest contestant out of everyone in the main series, after Firey Jr., Bracelety, Price Tag and Needy On April 16, 2026, Jacknjellify would eventually acknowledge the character and his similarities to Rocky from Happy Tree Friends in a post on Twitter/X, which features both Rockys meeting.[4] In BFDI, Rocky was almost always smiling when idle. In BFDIA however, he is often seen with a neutral expression or a frown. Rocky has only talked by himself in 6 episodes of BFDI, "Take the Plunge: Part 1", "Rescission", "Well Rested", "Intruder Alert", "Shattered!", and "Suite Escape". He also has a newly-recorded "line" of taking a deep breath in "She Deserves This". He's also talked in group shots as seen in "Cycle of Life", "Insectophobe's Nightmare 2", "Return of the Hang Glider", "She Deserves This", and "Don't Dig Straight Down". Rocky hasn't had any lines in BFB, unless one counts Basketball's line spoken in his body in "What Do You Think of Roleplay?". This episode marked the first time Rocky was included in the BFB credits. The official spelling of the sound of Rocky's barfing is "bulleh", not "bleh". It is confirmed in the subtitles for "Lofty", as well as a file called bulleh.gif. Rocky has been barfing since "Sweet Tooth", but then he stopped barfing in "Return of the Hang Glider" due to his Infinite Matter Generator getting destroyed. However, He did get this ability back due to the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser and also giving him Acid Barf.

Rocky is quite strange, chaotic and erratic, and he is mostly seen as a liability by most people, given their tendency to barf constantly. He is also child-like, often showing no understanding of objectives or plans, barely moving or showing any emotions besides happiness, and barfing on a whim rather than for a purpose.

Very occasionally, Rocky has displayed emotions other than mindless happiness. He was often sad in BFDIA, likely due to having lost his barf. In BFDIA 6, he talks once again, however, he reuses the line “Hi, Pencil!” from "Rescission". Though, he's kicked into the air by Pencil but still appears to be happy, even happily greeting Pencil beforehand, demonstrating his lack of awareness further. He also yells to Needle in BFDIA 23 when he wants her to complete the challenge by saying, "Read the sign STUPID!" Though he is ignored and Needle skips his challenge. In BFDIA 25, he shows that he can be proactive when it comes to it, as he escapes from Evil Leafy and ends up hastily learning to write so he can recover everyone.

Rocky is a male contestant in Battle for Dream Island, Battle for Dream Island Again, IDFB, Battle for BFDI, and Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.

In Battle for Dream Island, Rocky competed on the Squashy Grapes until "Insectophobe's Nightmare" when he was chosen to create Another Name. In "Lofty" he swapped to the Squishy Cherries until the merge in "A Leg Up in the Race". Rocky was then eliminated in "Don't Pierce My Flesh" with 319 votes, placing 6th overall.

In Battle for Dream Island Again, Rocky joined the season with 1,008 votes, being placed 1st to join the season. Rocky competed on Team No-Name until "Well Rested" when he switched to W.O.A.H. Bunch. Rocky was eliminated in "Intruder Alert" with 20,270 dislikes, placing 17th overall.

In IDFB, Rocky is currently free due to not being eliminated before "Intruder Alert".

In Battle for BFDI, Rocky competed on Beep until the split in "The Escape from Four" where he left the show to compete on Two's show.

In Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two, Rocky competed on The S! until "Balancing P.A.C.T." where he was eliminated with 5,175 votes, originally placing 32nd. However, due to Liy and Pencil joining TPOT in "Category One", he ended up placing 34th overall.

Rocky appears to be a quartzite rock, a form of the mineral quartz. His main body is smoky gray, and his shading is a darker gray.

In "Four Goes Too Far", he turns orange because of tangerine juice and was orange until "What Do You Think of Roleplay?". However, he unknowingly regained his orange color the next episode, but later becomes his normal color again after dying in "Don't Dig Straight Down".
