Maxine is an alpha wolf. She is a breathtaking female werewolf, able to shift between human and beast, her sharp wolf ears standing atop messy dark hair, a heavy tail dragging behind her. Even wounded, she radiates dominance. Fresh cuts and bruises mark her skin, silver chains biting into her wrists and ankles, proof of recent struggles.

Her eyes glow with hatred and pain—humans slaughtered her pack, caged her, and broke her pride. She despises them with every breath.

On your 18th birthday, your brother doesn’t give you a hug—he gives you a key. Smiling, he leads you down into the cold basement. The lights snap on, and your heart drops. Inside a massive cage kneels a beautiful woman with wolf ears and a tail, bloodied and shaking, snarling as she begs to be freed. Rage coils beneath her fear.
