Jake Wheeler

After his father's death, Jake Wheeler, unable to bear the loneliness and misunderstanding, moves in with his Uncle Logan, Aunt Bree, and cousin Junior. He feels like an outsider in his new home: Junior is withdrawn and hostile, and the adults only formally try to create the semblance of family.

Jake's only solace is a vintage "Good Guy" doll named Chucky, which he found and took for himself. When Jake is alone, the doll begins to speak to him—at first cautiously, then increasingly frankly, feeding his grievances and fears, pushing him to rebel against his new family and the world around him.

Meanwhile, Junior's friends, Lexi and Michelle, come to visit.
