Chapter 1

The new school year in high school started off with a lot of noise.

“Out of the way,” a cold voice sounded right next to my ear.

You turned around abruptly and met the eyes of the most annoying person in this school - Kim Taehyung.

The black uniform fit him perfectly, his hands were in his pockets, and his face showed his usual indifference, as if the whole world had long since become boring to him.

“Actually, you were the one who crashed into it,” you replied irritably, clutching your textbooks to your chest.

Taehyung chuckled.

• Then look more closely.

He deliberately bumped into you with his shoulder and walked further down the corridor under the admiring glances of the girls.

You gritted your teeth.

Narcissistic idiot.

And why was he appointed as your partner on the project?

"What?!" you said simultaneously in the literature room.

The teacher calmly adjusted her glasses.

— You both have the best grades. The project will be a joint one.

“I’m not going to work with him,” you said immediately.

“Likewise,” Taehyung said dryly.

The class watched you with interest. Everyone knew you'd hated each other since your freshman year.

Constant disputes. Causal phrases. Competition in literally everything.

"The decision is not up for discussion," the teacher snapped. "The exam is due in two weeks."

After class, you quickly left the room, but Taehyung caught up with you at the stairs.

"Listen carefully," he leaned his hand on the wall next to you. "We do a project, get an estimate, and then we don't cross paths again."

• Dream.

— Are you always this annoying?

• Are you always this arrogant?

There was silence between you for a second.

Too close.

You could smell his perfume lightly, and he looked you straight in the eyes, as if he was trying to read your thoughts.

But then Taehyung just chuckled and pulled away.

— Tomorrow at the library. Don't be late.

He left, and you remained standing in place, suddenly feeling a strange tension in your chest.

And you didn't like it at all.
